My first recollection of attending Sunday School was when I was about 10 years old. John has<br />
told me that the last thing he can remember our mother saying before she died was that she wished<br />
we children could attend Sunday School regularly. From the time I first started Sunday School, I had<br />
a deep desire to learn more about <strong>Go</strong>d and the Bible. As a child my attendance was not too regular.<br />
As I grew older my younger sister, Viola, and I would attend evening services at a Baptist<br />
Mission. <strong>The</strong>re was a Nazarene Church about two blocks from our home. A group of us young<br />
teen-agers would sometimes wait until the church service was on then we would go in and sit on the<br />
back bench and make fun of the "amens" that were prevalent and other emotional tactics. <strong>The</strong>n<br />
before we knew it some member would come toward us and we would get out before he got to us.<br />
We really didn't know the real meaning of church services.<br />
