Controlling Pedal Cadence
Coaches Quick Start Guide
Since pedaling is the primary method of getting a bike to move, it is very important that we understand cadence.
Cadence is the number of pedal revolutions per minute (rpm’s) that we turn the crank over. By shifting gears we are
able to maintain the perfect cadence. The ideal cadence will vary slightly from cyclist to cyclist due to individual style,
but the average ideal rpm is around 90. That is, 90 pedal revolutions per minute.
