Every day, Special Olympics athletes dig deep, confront challenges and
ultimately reveal the champion within. The impact of the Special Olympics
movement is palpable across the globe—from a small village in Malawi
where a Special Olympics coach is changing the hearts and minds of people
with little understanding of intellectual disabilities, to the international
stage of the Special Olympics World Summer Games where athletes brought
dignity and honor to their home countries. With each new competition and
event, athletes discover new strengths and abilities. On the playing field, in
school and in life, these tremendous individuals inspire joy and pride for the
millions who witness both their trials and successes.
