Dear Friends <strong>of</strong> Mercy,<br />
I am especially proud <strong>and</strong> excited to welcome you to <strong>the</strong> 30th Annual<br />
Mercy High School <strong>Auction</strong> tonight. Reaching such a l<strong>and</strong>mark – three decades<br />
<strong>of</strong> success <strong>and</strong> support by generations <strong>of</strong> Mercy parents <strong>and</strong> volunteers – is<br />
truly a remarkable achievement, <strong>and</strong> one which has been made possible<br />
by <strong>the</strong> unbelievable <strong>and</strong> continuing enthusiasm <strong>and</strong> plain old hard work<br />
<strong>of</strong> scores <strong>of</strong> Mercy parents <strong>and</strong> friends over <strong>the</strong> years. Thank you so very<br />
much for making this event possible by your support, <strong>and</strong> for helping us<br />
keep Mercy High School vibrant, healthy <strong>and</strong> growing as we continue to<br />
<strong>of</strong>fer such a rich <strong>and</strong> formative educational experience for our Mercy girls.<br />
Through your support, Mercy High School will continue <strong>of</strong>fering its excellent,<br />
Christ-centered, college preparatory program to as many deserving girls as<br />
possible.<br />
Although our 30th anniversary is a milestone <strong>of</strong> continuity, we are also<br />
marking it with a new <strong>and</strong> exciting change: for <strong>the</strong> first time ever, we are<br />
hosting <strong>the</strong> <strong>Auction</strong> in a new location, <strong>the</strong> Diamond Center at Rock Financial<br />
Showplace. This new location gives us more flexibility in designing an auction<br />
experience that we hope is better than ever <strong>and</strong> conducive to a successful<br />
event. A special thank-you to John Bowen, one <strong>of</strong> our Mercy parents, who<br />
made it possible for us to use this wonderful space.<br />
I also want to recognize <strong>and</strong> give thanks to all <strong>of</strong> you who have already<br />
contributed so much to <strong>the</strong> success <strong>of</strong> tonight’s event, whe<strong>the</strong>r by attending<br />
or sponsoring a gift-ga<strong>the</strong>ring party, making a contribution toward <strong>the</strong><br />
acquisition <strong>of</strong> an item, or finding attractive gifts to be auctioned. Your<br />
contributions, <strong>the</strong>n <strong>and</strong> now make all <strong>the</strong> difference for our Mercy girls, <strong>and</strong><br />
I appreciate every one <strong>of</strong> you.<br />
I ask you to join me in thanking this year’s <strong>Auction</strong> Chair, Theresa<br />
Saroki, as well as <strong>the</strong> Committee Chairs <strong>and</strong> Linda Conradi, our Special Events<br />
Coordinator for Mercy’s staff. All <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se hard workers, <strong>and</strong> so many more<br />
<strong>of</strong> you who donated your valuable time <strong>and</strong> talent, are responsible for<br />
organizing <strong>and</strong> preparing all <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> many details <strong>of</strong> tonight’s event.<br />
Of course, <strong>the</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essionalism <strong>and</strong> high quality <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Mercy <strong>Auction</strong><br />
would not be possible with<strong>out</strong> our wonderful celebrity co-hosts, Channel 4<br />
News Anchor Steve Garagiola, our unsurpassed Master <strong>of</strong> Ceremonies, <strong>and</strong><br />
our pr<strong>of</strong>essional <strong>Auction</strong>eer Joseph DuMouchelle. These men so generously<br />

Dear Friends <strong>of</strong> Mercy,<br />
We are thrilled this year to welcome you to a new <strong>and</strong> exciting venue for<br />
Mercy High School’s 30th Annual <strong>Auction</strong>. For <strong>the</strong> first time ever, we are holding<br />
our largest parent-driven fundraiser at an <strong>of</strong>f-site location: <strong>the</strong> spacious <strong>and</strong> wellequipped<br />
Diamond Center at Rock Financial Showplace. We especially thank Mercy<br />
Dad John Bowen, whose efforts have made tonight’s new location become a reality.<br />
This event would not be possible with<strong>out</strong> <strong>the</strong> enormous effort <strong>and</strong> hard work <strong>of</strong><br />
our Mercy parent volunteers. It would also not be possible with<strong>out</strong> <strong>the</strong> generosity<br />
<strong>of</strong> many o<strong>the</strong>r parents <strong>and</strong> friends who sell tickets, attend <strong>the</strong> auction, <strong>and</strong> bid on<br />
<strong>the</strong> <strong>items</strong>. These efforts guarantee that Mercy High School will continue to be both<br />
a rigorous academic environment that <strong>of</strong>fers young women <strong>the</strong> highest-quality college<br />
preparatory education <strong>and</strong> a warm <strong>and</strong> welcoming community that provides<br />
each student with a lasting spiritual formation.<br />
This year’s new location at <strong>the</strong> Diamond Center makes it possible for us to organize<br />
<strong>the</strong> silent auction placements in a lay<strong>out</strong> that is more bidder-friendly, more spacious,<br />
<strong>and</strong> easier to negotiate. We hope you find this new format helpful <strong>and</strong> that<br />
your experience tonight is an enjoyable one. Please feel free to let us know what<br />
you think; we are always looking for ways to make <strong>the</strong> annual Mercy auction more<br />
successful.<br />
As auction chair, I have both enjoyed getting to know <strong>and</strong> work with so<br />
many dedicated <strong>and</strong> talented people – <strong>the</strong> many parents, alumnae <strong>and</strong> staff who<br />
have stepped forward to devote <strong>the</strong>ir time, effort, talents, <strong>and</strong> money to assist<br />
us in this endeavor <strong>of</strong> raising funds for Mercy. Thank you to all who have contributed<br />
– <strong>the</strong> committee chairs <strong>and</strong> members, parents <strong>and</strong> alumnae who hosted gift<br />
ga<strong>the</strong>ring parties, donors <strong>and</strong> Mercy staff. With<strong>out</strong> your help, <strong>the</strong>re would be no<br />
chance <strong>of</strong> pulling <strong>of</strong>f an event such as this.<br />
Our children are our treasure. The most important investment we can make<br />
is in <strong>the</strong>ir education <strong>and</strong> formation to become creative, productive, <strong>and</strong> ethical citizens<br />
<strong>and</strong> parents someday. This is even more so in tough economic times, because<br />
education is <strong>the</strong> one investment that will never lose its value. Thank you for joining<br />

he was recognized by <strong>the</strong> National<br />

1) All Bidders are to register at <strong>the</strong> registration table <strong>and</strong> receive a bidder’s number. All bidders<br />

2) All purchased <strong>items</strong> are to be paid for on <strong>the</strong> night <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> AUCTION, <strong>and</strong> no item is to be<br />
removed from <strong>the</strong> premises until payment has been made.<br />
3) If a dispute arises during <strong>the</strong> Live <strong>Auction</strong> between two or more bidders, <strong>the</strong> <strong>Auction</strong>eer may<br />
settle <strong>the</strong> matter, or may immediately put <strong>the</strong> item up for sale again, <strong>and</strong> resell to <strong>the</strong> highest<br />

1) Items in all Silent <strong>Auction</strong>s, <strong>and</strong> Almost Live Items have bid sheets. Persons desiring to bid must<br />

line.<br />
2) Each increasing bid <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> bidder’s paddle number is to be written on <strong>the</strong> appropriate line<br />

3) All Silent <strong>Auction</strong>s, <strong>and</strong> Almost Live will close at various intervals through<strong>out</strong> <strong>the</strong> evening (see page<br />
