Burial was in Violet Hill Cemetery.<br />

David, eight year old son of Engineer<br />

LaVerne Huffman, is recuperating at<br />

home from injuries sustained while riding<br />

on a tractor. He spent several weeks<br />

in the Blank Memorial Hospital, Des<br />

Moines.<br />

H. G. Miller, who worked for many<br />

years in the agent's office at Rockwell<br />

City, passed away Feb. 13. Funeral services<br />

were in that city.<br />

Retired Carman and Mrs. Ledlie Lee<br />

celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary<br />

Dec. 24 at their home in Perry.<br />

Mary Jane Wall, daughter of Dispatcher<br />

Elmer C. Wall of Perry, qualified for<br />

the Dean's List during the fall quarter<br />

at Iowa State University in Ames. She<br />

is majoring in physics and attained a<br />

grade point average of 3.5 out of a possible<br />

4.0.<br />

Retired Engineer and Mrs. George Starliper<br />

of Perry announced the arrival of<br />

a new granddaughter when nine day old<br />

Lisa Suzanna was taken into the Keith<br />

Hoffman home in Des Moines. Mrs. Hoffman<br />

is the Starlipers' daughter.<br />

<strong>March</strong>-<strong>April</strong>, <strong>1961</strong><br />

Paul Slater was promoted to traveling<br />

engineer Feb. 1. He took the place of<br />

J. T. Phleger, who retired from that position<br />

at Austin, Minn. Paul has performed<br />

all of his work as fireman and<br />

engineer on the Iowa Division. He was<br />

employed by the <strong>Milwaukee</strong> in 1947.<br />

Richard Anfinson, son of Retired Engineer<br />

Peter Anfinson of Dawson, Ia.,<br />

and a member of the Navy, has a new<br />

address: U.S.N.H., T.A.D. States, Bremerton,<br />

Wash.<br />

August John Kressin, 70, retired roundhouse<br />

foreman, passed away Jan. 25 in<br />

the Dallas County Hospital, Perry. He<br />

was born in <strong>Milwaukee</strong> but had lived in<br />

Perry since 1922. He retired in 1952. He<br />

is survived by his wife and three daughters.<br />

Burial was in Violet Hill Cemetery<br />

at Perry.<br />

George W. Bell, 82, passed away at his<br />

home in Perry Jan. 24 after being in poor<br />

health for several years. He was born at<br />

Prole, Ia., and had resided in Perry since<br />

1903 when he hired out with the <strong>Milwaukee</strong><br />

as a carman, where he was employed<br />

until his retirement in 1945. Burial was<br />

in Violet Hill Cemetery at Perry.<br />
