Reciprocity<br />
Antenna characteristics like gain, beamwidth, efficiency,<br />
polarization, <strong>and</strong> impedance are independent of the antenna’s<br />
use for either transmitting or receiving.<br />
Another way to state this is that an antenna’s transmitting<br />
<strong>and</strong> receiving characteristics are reciprocal.<br />

The concept of reciprocity is very powerful <strong>and</strong> is used very often. Many properties of an antenna are easier to visualize in terms of a<br />
receiving antenna, <strong>and</strong> by reciprocity these properties can be applied to a transmitting antenna <strong>and</strong> vice-versa.
