Todd Benzinger - Manager, A Dayton<br />

Todd Benzinger enters his first season as the manager at Class-A Dayton. A former 9-year<br />

big league veteran, he played for the Red Sox, Reds, Royals, Dodgers and Giants. This<br />

season will mark his first as a skipper at the professional level. The former first baseman/<br />

outfielder was selected by Boston in the fourth round of the 1981 draft and made his Major<br />

League debut with the Red Sox in 1987. Benzinger was later traded to the Reds where<br />

as a member of the 1990 World Championship team he caught the final out in Game 4<br />

of the World Series to clinch the title. For the past several years he has enjoyed a highly<br />

successful career coaching high school girls basketball in the Cincinnati area. Benzinger,<br />

45, is a graduate of nearby New Richmond High School and resides in Loveland.<br />

Rigo Beltran - Pitching Coach, A Dayton<br />

Rigo Beltran begins his third season in the Reds organization, his first as Class A Dayton’s<br />

pitching coach. He spent the previous 2 seasons as the pitching coach for the Rookie GCL<br />

Reds. A former Major League pitcher, Beltran has appeared in parts of 5 seasons with St.<br />

Louis (1997), New York Mets (1998-99), Colorado (1999-2000) and Montreal (2004). He<br />

began his 16-year professional career with the St. Louis organization after he was selected<br />

by the Cardinals in the 1991 free agent draft. In 1995 he won 8 games for the American<br />

Association champion Louisville Cardinals. He finished his playing career in 2004 with a<br />

94-74 record. Rigo, 39, resides in Delray Beach, Florida.<br />

Tony Jaramillo - Hitting Coach, A Dayton<br />

Tony Jaramillo enters his second season in the Reds organization, his first as the hitting<br />

coach at Class-A Dayton. Last season Jaramillo served as Billings’ hitting coach and his<br />

Mustangs led the Pioneer League with the fewest strikeouts (567). He previously coached<br />

in the Tigers’ system, serving as the hitting instructor for Class A West Michigan from 2004-<br />

06. Jaramillo played professionally from 1998-2003, including 3 years in the Texas Rangers<br />

organization. Tony, 30, resides in Dallas, Texas.<br />

Julio Garcia - Manager, Rookie Billings/Special Assistant to Player Development<br />

Julio Garcia enters his second season in the Reds organization as special assistant to player<br />

development and the manager at Billings. Last season his Mustangs won both half division<br />

titles and finished with a 42-32 overall record, earning him Pioneer League Manager of the<br />

Year honors. Before <strong>com</strong>ing to the Reds organization, he spent 7 seasons in the Cubs’<br />

system, where he served as Latin American field coordinator (2006-07) and as a manager<br />

at Class A Peoria (2005) and Class A Lansing (2001-04). In 14 years as a minor league<br />

manager, Garcia owns a career record of 663-697. He began his professional career in 1988<br />

as a bullpen catcher for the Texas Rangers, but left that post in the middle of the season to<br />

take over as manager at Class A Bradenton in the Pittsburgh organization. He worked for<br />

the Pirates through the 1994 season, including stints as skipper at Rookie Princeton (1989)<br />

and again at Bradenton (1990). Garcia spent 1995-96 in the Orioles’ system as manager at Class A Sarasota and<br />

Class A Frederick, where he earned Carolina League Manager of the Year honors in ‘96. Julio became a member of<br />

the Tampa Bay organization in 1997 and worked for the Rays through 2000, including stops as manager at Class A<br />

Hudson Valley (1997) and Class A St. Petersburg (2000). He served as Tampa Bay’s hitting coach from 1998-1999.<br />

Garcia, 48, resides in Industry, Texas.<br />

Bob Forsch - Pitching Coach, Rookie Billings<br />

Bob Forsch begins his first season in the Reds organization as the pitching coach at Rookie<br />

Billings. This season will mark his first as a coach at the professional level. For the past<br />

4 seasons, he served as the pitching coach at John Burroughs High School in St. Louis.<br />

Forsch spent most of his 16-year Major League career with the St. Louis Cardinals, where<br />

he pitched a pair of no-hitters in 1978 and 1983. He and his brother Ken Forsch are the only<br />

set of brothers to both pitch official no-hitters. Overall, Forsch pitched in the big leagues<br />

from 1974 to 1989 and finished with a record of 168-136 and a career 3.76 ERA. His best<br />

year came in 1977 when he went 20-7. He was a member of the Cardinals 1982 World<br />

Championship team and also pitched in the 1985 and 1987 World Series with St. Louis.<br />

Bob, 58, resides in Weeki Wachi, Florida.<br />
