o u t s t a n d i n g s e n i o r a w a r d s | a l u m n i n e w s Graduating seniors honored Six graduates from 2007-08 were honored with the university’s distinguished alumni in May. They included: John Lauermann, majoring in geography and economics, and Gustav Borstad, majoring in physics (optics emphasis) and mathematics (applied emphasis), The Murphy Awards for Academic Excellence, which recognize the university’s top two graduating scholars as chosen by a committee. Ryan VanLoo, majoring in management (human resources emphasis), The Jake and Janet Hoeschler Award for Excellence, which recognizes a College of Business Administration graduate for academic accomplishment and leadership on and off campus. Bjorn Bergman, majoring in biology (environmental science concentration) and minoring in chemistry, The Strzelczyk Award in Science and Health, which recognizes an outstanding senior in the College of Science and Health. Hollie Nyseth, majoring in sociology and political science with minors in international studies and Spanish, The John E. Magerus Award for the Outstanding Graduating Senior from the College of Liberal Studies, which recognizes an outstanding senior in the college for academic accomplishments, leadership, and involvement in the campus and community. Look for a questionnaire in September to verify your contact information via mail or e-mail from Harris Connect. Reply so you’ll be included in this historical record. e directory will be printed and ready for distribution in summer 2009, just in time for the university’s centennial celebration. e last directory (pictured above) was published in 2000. Trip winner tours Spain Christa Baldridge, ’99, and her husband, Bill, enjoyed the Plaza de Espana in Sevilla in Spain (where Lawrence of Arabia was filmed).
