AsamemberoftheLeadershipTeamforthis campaign,Iinviteyourparticipation.Financial supportisbeingsoughtforthenewAcademic Building,undergraduateresearch,student scholarships,facultyawardsanddevelopment,and otherworthyendeavors. Ourmostimmediateneedistosecure$6 millionincontributionsfortheAcademic Building,whichwillprovideastateoftheart educationalfacilityforusebyallcollegesand departmentsonthecampus.Raisingthesefunds willenabletheuniversitytoreceive$38millionin statemoniestoproceedwithconstructionofthis muchneededfacility.Itisnotsurprisingthatthe physicalinfrastructureonourcampusneeds updatingandimprovement,consideringthatI— nowaseniorprofessor—wasagraduatestudent whenthelasteducationalbuildingontheUW-L campus(W.CarlWimberlyHall,formerlyNorth Hall)wascompletedin1974. isisatimeofextraordinaryopportunityand challengeforUW-L.Iencourageyoutoreecton thepersonalenrichmentandprofessionalgrowth thathaveaccruedfromyouryearsonthiscampus andtojoinmeinsupportingtheCentennial Campaignforagreatuniversity—youralmamater —theUniversityofWisconsin-LaCrosse.
