Dear Fellow Nevadan,
Nevada’s economy is struggling and our families and businesses are paying the price. Our
unemployment and foreclosure rates are among the country’s worst. As you know, Congress
passed and President Obama recently signed a historic $787 billion economic recovery
package. The main purpose of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) was to
create the jobs that will put Americans back to work and get our economy back on track.
In order to help Nevadans to take advantage of the ARRA, I assembled this Resource Guide
to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, which compiles information on
many federal programs and funding opportunities available to individuals, communities and
businesses in Nevada.
Under this legislation, Nevada will receive $1.5 billion in direct aid and Medicaid assistance,
as well as millions more in competitive grants that collectively are expected to create and save
nearly 34,000 jobs in our state. It is critical that our families, businesses and municipalities
have the information they need to access these funds as quickly as possible.
I hope this guide is helpful to Nevadans who need to access the funds designated in the
