STOP Violence Against Women Formula Grant Program<br />

$175 million in STOP Violence Against Women Formula Assistance Program.<br />

<strong>Nevada</strong> will receive $2.1 million in formula funding.<br />

<strong>Nevada</strong> Office <strong>of</strong> Policy and Management (OPM) Criminal Justice Policy and<br />

Planning <strong>Division</strong><br />

Description: The STOP (Services, Training, Officers, and Prosecutors) Violence Against Women<br />

Formula Grant Program promotes a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to<br />

improving the criminal justice system’s response to violent crimes against women.<br />

The STOP Program encourages the development and strengthening <strong>of</strong> effective law<br />

enforcement and prosecution strategies to address violent crimes against women<br />

and the development and strengthening <strong>of</strong> victim services in cases involving violent<br />

crimes against women. STOP formula grants are intended for use by states and<br />

territories; state, local and tribal courts (including juvenile courts); Indian tribal<br />

governments; local governments; and nonpr<strong>of</strong>it, nongovernment victim services<br />

programs. Recipients are required to meet one or more <strong>of</strong> 14 statutory purpose<br />

areas. These areas include, but are not limited to: training law enforcement <strong>of</strong>ficers,<br />

judges, court personnel and prosecutors; developing, enlarging, or strengthening<br />

victim services programs; developing, installing or expanding data collection; and<br />

developing, enlarging, or strengthening programs addressing stalking.<br />
