Wednesday <strong>October</strong> 12, <strong>2011</strong><br />
from 10:00 A.M. TO 8:00 P.M.<br />
Polling Places:<br />
<strong>Na</strong>-<strong>Cho</strong> <strong>Nyak</strong> <strong>Dun</strong> Government Building in Mayo, and<br />
High Country Inn, Library Room in Whitehorse<br />
FOR:<br />
Three (3) Councillors,<br />
ONE (1) Youth Councillor<br />
The three Councillors and Youth Councillor shall be chosen by<br />
way of general election and secret ballot conducted in accordance with the<br />
<strong>Election</strong> Regulations. All <strong>Na</strong>cho <strong>Nyak</strong> <strong>Dun</strong> Citizens over the age of 18 years old<br />
are eligible to vote.<br />
Advance Poll:<br />
Wednesday September 28, <strong>2011</strong><br />
from 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.<br />
<strong>Na</strong>-<strong>Cho</strong> <strong>Nyak</strong> <strong>Dun</strong> Government Building in Mayo, and<br />
High Country Inn, Library Room in Whitehorse.<br />
Nomination Day:<br />
for Three (3) Councillors, and Youth Councillor positions<br />
Closes in Mayo, Yukon Territory on<br />
Monday September 12 <strong>2011</strong> at 4:30 p.m.<br />
NOMINATIONS:<br />
A person shall be nominated upon the filing of valid notice of that<br />
person’s nomination with the <strong>Election</strong> Committee. A notice of nomination<br />
may be filed at any time after the announcement of the election call by<br />
the <strong>Election</strong> Committee until 4.30 p.m. on September 12, <strong>2011</strong> close of<br />
nominations.<br />
To be nominated for the office of Councillor:<br />
a citizen who is over the age of 18 years of age;<br />
in writing, in a form acceptable to the <strong>Election</strong> Committee;<br />
specify the person is being nominated for Councillor; and<br />
signed and delivered in the original, to the <strong>Election</strong> Committee’s<br />
satisfaction, by not less than 7 electors who are members of the<br />
same Clan as the person being nominated.

To be nominated for the office of the Youth Councillor:<br />
is at least 18 years of age, who will be no older than 26 years of<br />
age;<br />
in writing, in a form acceptable to the <strong>Election</strong> Committee;<br />
specify that the person is being nominated for the office of Youth<br />
Councillor; and<br />
signed and delivered in original, to the <strong>Election</strong> Committee’s<br />
satisfaction, by not less than 7 electors who are at least 18 years<br />
of age and no older than 26 years of age.<br />
For the Councillors, and Youth Councillor positions all citizens must be:<br />
an elector;<br />
duly nominated; and<br />
personally affirms in writing received by the <strong>Election</strong> Committee by<br />
mail or in person by any member of the <strong>Election</strong> Committee, no<br />
later than 4.30 p.m. on the third day after the day nominations<br />
closed, that he or she is willing to accept that nomination;<br />
The candidate shall then be certified by the <strong>Election</strong> Committee as a candidate<br />
for election to the office for which he or she was nominated. A person who is<br />
nominated but who is not certified by the <strong>Election</strong> Committee under this<br />
provision shall not be entitled to become a candidate for election.<br />
MAIL IN BALLOTS<br />
A reminder to all citizens, the mail in ballots will not be<br />
mailed to all citizens. If you would like to cast your vote by<br />
mail in ballot, please send your request to Karen Van Bibber,<br />
<strong>Election</strong> Committee Member, or the Chief Electoral Officer<br />
and a mail in ballot will be sent to you as soon as possible.<br />
