<strong>The</strong> Danish stamp issued in 1970 appropriated <strong>the</strong> ship-building scene in <strong>the</strong><br />
<strong>Bayeux</strong> <strong>Tapestry</strong>.<br />

It links <strong>the</strong> legendary maritime skills of <strong>the</strong> Danish <strong>Vikings</strong> <strong>and</strong> that of <strong>the</strong>ir Norman<br />
cousins. In 1982, <strong>the</strong> Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde undertook <strong>the</strong> building of a<br />
replica of a Viking ship. <strong>The</strong>y chose a small cargo ship about fourteen meters long from<br />
<strong>the</strong> Skuldelev group.<br />
