<strong>The</strong> <strong>Bayeux</strong> <strong>Tapestry</strong> has often been studied in connection with English <strong>and</strong><br />
French historical writings as well as with English epic poetry <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> French chanson-de-<br />
geste. With <strong>the</strong> exception of <strong>the</strong> study of Ackerman, <strong>the</strong> <strong>Tapestry</strong>’s narrative <strong>and</strong> images<br />
are very rarely compared to <strong>the</strong> Sc<strong>and</strong>inavian sagas, perhaps because of <strong>the</strong>ir later<br />
