TUITION FEES REFUND POLICY – ACADEMIC YEAR 2012/13
Any overpayment of fees will only be refunded on receipt of a fully completed refund
application form which can be downloaded from the University’s website at
www.ulster.ac.uk/finance/fees
1 Tuition Fee Liability for Full Time Home/EU Undergraduate/PGCE Students
If you decide to withdraw or go on leave of absence in academic year 2012/13, the amount of
tuition fees that you will be liable for will vary depending on the date you withdraw.
Withdrawal Dates Fee Liability*
From first day of term until 6 January 2013 25% of the full annual fee*
From 7 January 2013 until 7 April 2013 50% of the full annual fee*
From 8 April 2013 100% of the full annual fee*
* The fee liability is in percentage terms of the full annual fee of £3,465 for Home/EU
excluding GB students. For GB students first registering in academic year 2012/13 the full
annual fee is £6,000.
2 Tuition Fee Liability for All Students Except for Full Time Home/EU
Undergraduate/PGCE
If a student leaves a programme of study on or before 31 October no fees will be due for that
academic year.
If a student leaves a programme of study after 31 October, but on or before 28 February,
tuition fees will be charged for semester 1 but not for semester 2.
If a student leaves a programme of study after 28 February, tuition fees will be charged in full
for the academic year.
3 Overseas Distance Learning Students
Tuition fee liability will be calculated in accordance with section 2 for overseas distance
learning students, with the exception that they will be required to pay a non refundable
deposit equal to 20% of their tuition fees at registration.
Please note: During busy periods it may take up to 6-8 weeks to process refunds from receipt
of a completed refund application form.
Tuition fee refunds can only be processed if you have followed the correct procedures and
your registration record has been updated. For students considering withdrawing from their
studies or taking a leave of absence, please seek advice from your course director or refer to
section 4 of the University student handbook which can be downloaded at
www.ulster.ac.uk/studenthandbook
