TUITION FEES REFUND POLICY – ACADEMIC YEAR <strong>2012</strong>/<strong>13</strong><br />

Any overpayment <strong>of</strong> fees will only be refunded on receipt <strong>of</strong> a fully completed refund<br />

application form which can be downloaded from the <strong>University</strong>’s website at<br />

www.ulster.ac.uk/finance/fees<br />

1 <strong>Tuition</strong> <strong>Fee</strong> Liability for Full Time Home/EU Undergraduate/PGCE Students<br />

If you decide to withdraw or go on leave <strong>of</strong> absence in academic year <strong>2012</strong>/<strong>13</strong>, the amount <strong>of</strong><br />

tuition fees that you will be liable for will vary depending on the date you withdraw.<br />

Withdrawal Dates <strong>Fee</strong> Liability*<br />

From first day <strong>of</strong> term until 6 January 20<strong>13</strong> 25% <strong>of</strong> the full annual fee*<br />

From 7 January 20<strong>13</strong> until 7 April 20<strong>13</strong> 50% <strong>of</strong> the full annual fee*<br />

From 8 April 20<strong>13</strong> 100% <strong>of</strong> the full annual fee*<br />

* The fee liability is in percentage terms <strong>of</strong> the full annual fee <strong>of</strong> £3,465 for Home/EU<br />

excluding GB students. For GB students first registering in academic year <strong>2012</strong>/<strong>13</strong> the full<br />

annual fee is £6,000.<br />

2 <strong>Tuition</strong> <strong>Fee</strong> Liability for All Students Except for Full Time Home/EU<br />

Undergraduate/PGCE<br />

If a student leaves a programme <strong>of</strong> study on or before 31 October no fees will be due for that<br />

academic year.<br />

If a student leaves a programme <strong>of</strong> study after 31 October, but on or before 28 February,<br />

tuition fees will be charged for semester 1 but not for semester 2.<br />

If a student leaves a programme <strong>of</strong> study after 28 February, tuition fees will be charged in full<br />

for the academic year.<br />

3 Overseas Distance Learning Students<br />

<strong>Tuition</strong> fee liability will be calculated in accordance with section 2 for overseas distance<br />

learning students, with the exception that they will be required to pay a non refundable<br />

deposit equal to 20% <strong>of</strong> their tuition fees at registration.<br />

Please note: During busy periods it may take up to 6-8 weeks to process refunds from receipt<br />

<strong>of</strong> a completed refund application form.<br />

<strong>Tuition</strong> fee refunds can only be processed if you have followed the correct procedures and<br />

your registration record has been updated. For students considering withdrawing from their<br />

studies or taking a leave <strong>of</strong> absence, please seek advice from your course director or refer to<br />

section 4 <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> student handbook which can be downloaded at<br />

www.ulster.ac.uk/studenthandbook<br />
