Board Member Job Description
NACW is the premier coalition of women's commissions in the United States, Puerto Rico
and the Virgin Islands impacting public policy on issues that impact women.
While being elected to the NACW board of Directors is certainly a prestigious honor, Board
communicate on a regular basis with each other via phone, e-mail letters and at Board
meetings.
Board Members are expected to attend board meetings that are scheduled either via
conference call or in person. For the past year, the Board has met via conference call
every other month; attendance is expected at these. In addition, a face-to-face board
meeting was scheduled NACW’s office in Rockville, Maryland. Two Board meetings are
held at the annual convention, one before and one immediately after. The NACW
President may call other meetings. Expenses for attending these meetings are the
responsibility of the Board Member.
At public functions and the National Convention, Board Members act as
diplomats/ambassadors, welcoming attendees and assisting as requested by the NACW
