Position in global luxury goods market further extended
Porsche Design continues its dynamic growth
Stuttgart. The Porsche Design Group (Porsche Lizenz- und Handelsgesellschaft
mbH & Co. KG) is looking forward confidently to the forthcoming 2009/10 financial
year end. The company, which is 65 per cent owned by Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG,
is continuing its strategy for dynamic growth. Business has been extremely strong
for the Porsche Design luxury brand and there are now 105 Porsche Design Stores
and Shops worldwide, an increase of 25 per cent over the previous year and 139
per cent over the last three years. Furthermore, sales in the franchise business are
up by more than 43 per cent over the previous year (an increase of 320 per cent on
2006/07) and by around 12 per cent (75 per cent) in its own retail business.
“The fact that our luxury brand, in particular, is being so well received in the market
gives us confidence,” says Dr. Juergen Gessler, Chairman of the Porsche Design
Group. “In December 2009 we opened our new Porsche Design Store in Crystals at
CityCenter Las Vegas. There we are presenting our range in highly exclusive
company, and at the official opening we were one of the most demanded brands.”
The new outlets under the Porsche Design brand, such as those in Miami (USA),
New Delhi (India), Hong Kong (China) and Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), are already doing
well.
During the 2009/10 financial year the company was given a total of six design
awards. The P´8810 reading tool, the P´1700 shoe collection and the P’9522 mobile
phone, all Porsche Design products, were among them, each receiving the
prestigious “iF Product Design Award”; and the flyback chronograph P´6920
Rattrapante Limited Edition was awarded the “red dot” seal, recognised throughout
the world for high quality in design.
