Etter et solid elektronika-comeback på Warp på tampen av fjoråret med albumet ”Small Craft on a Milk Sea” er Eno klar med 

enda et nytt album. Denne gang har han gjort det i samarbeid med Rick Holland, som står for all lyrikken på albumet. Det er 

mer snakk om spoken word enn sang, og det Brian Eno selv og en rekke gjester som framfører. Ellers har han med seg sine 

musikere Leo Abrahams, Seb Rochford og Nell Catchpole som suplerer Eno’s velkjente ambient elektronika. AMBIENT

rockebandet Cloud Control. Bandet møttes under 

prøvene til stykket Pirates Of Penzance i deres 

hjemby Blue Mountains, hvor de fortsatte med å 

lage sin indie-rock influerte sound. I hjemlandet har 

populariteten til kvartetten eksplodert og bandet 

mottok nylig Australian Music Prize (den australske

When talking about the music of Com Truise (one of the many pseudonyms of 

New Jersey designer/musician Seth Haley), the nostalgia bit inevitably comes 

up, so let’s get that out of the way. Yes, his songs tap classic sci-fi and protoelectro 

in a way that is distinctly early eighties in scope. But they’re also remarkably 

weird--stutter-step proggy and intoxicatingly psychedelic, like those 

classic touchstones got drunk on lava lamp juice inside a pinball machine. 

After his well-received Cyanide Sisters EP, a grip of remixes for artists like 

Twin Shadow, Neon Indian, and, uh, Daft Punk, and a few floating MP3s, 

Truise's first LP, Galactic Melt, will finally enter brainspaces this summer. 

And what an appropriate title it bears. For a brief moment, opener "Terminal" 

subsumes you in warm, starry-eyed synth arpeggios, and then down the rabbit 

hole you go--from the keyed up, skyscraping machine love of "VHS Sex" and

Howser's idea of the perfect prom song -mathy, forlorn, funky, and mighty 

in technical ambition. That they're all noticeably cinematic is, of course, by 

design--Haley envisioned Galactic Melt as a "sort of film score...from the 

mind," chronicling the lift and death of Com Truise, the world's first synthetic/ 

robotic astronaut, from his creation and life on earth to his subsequent mission 

to a newly discovered galaxy called "Wave 1." Eventually, Truise becomes 

one with his newfound cosmos, like Pinocchio becoming a real boy, but in the 

nether regions of imaginary space. 

Haley says knowing when and how to complete such an opus was the hardest 

part of making the record, nevermind all the carefully synth programmed patches 

on his Sequential Circuits Split-8 or the three years of real life that 

transpired during its genesis. It’s a world unto itself, a sci-fi bildungsroman of 

sorts, and most importantly, an awesome escape from the corporeal.

Atlantic Jaxx Recordings & Basement Jaxx are pleased to announce the release 

of a new orchestral project in collaboration with the Netherlands’ Metropole 

Orkest and renowned London conductor and arranger, Jules Buckley. 

The project features a full sixty piece orchestra along with a twenty voice choir 

and sees the Metropole Orkest perform classical and contemporary orchestral 

versions of the legendary Basement Jaxx back catalogue. 

Highlights include instrumental reinterpretations of the Jaxx breakthrough tune, 

“Red Alert” and 2009’s “Raindrops”, a waltz version of “Bingo Bango”, the 

Balkan stomper “Hey U” & the haunting ballad “Lights Go Down”, sung by long 

time Jaxx collaborator, Sharlene Hector. 

Produced and orchestrated over the last year by Jules Buckley and Basement 

Jaxxs’ Felix Buxton and featuring many of the singers from their legendary live 

shows (including LA’s finest, Lisa Kekaula, on “Good Luck”) the album will 

also include an original piece, written by Felix, especially for this orchestral 

project. 

The combination of the Metropole Orkest’s cutting edge approach to orchestral 

interpretation, Basement Jaxx's uniquely skewed take on dance music and Jules 

Buckley's innovative conducting and arranging results in a remarkable 

soundclash – Basement Jaxx as you’ve never heard them before. (Who’d have 

imagined hearing a baroque harpsichord playing “Where’s Your Head At” ?) 

The album is a mixture of studio recordings and live performances culled from 

the first (and only) presentation of the project, in Eindhoven, in February of this 

year and will be released on CD and digital download to coincide with the UK 

premiere of the piece as part of this Summer’s “Blaze” programme at London’s 

Barbican Theatre on July 14th and 15th. 

These shows will feature a full cast of guest vocalists as well as the 70-strong 

Metropole Orkest and the celebrated 40 voice Crouch End Festival Chorus

Mercury Music Prize winning Gomez return with their phenomenal 

seventh studio album ‘Whatever’s On Your Mind’. Featuring 

the forthcoming single ‘Options’, and co-produced with 

Sam Farrar (Phantom Planet) – marking their first selfproduced 

record since ‘In Our Gun’ in 2001 -, the album was 

pieced together across two continents before the band came

Rodrigo y Gabriela are riding high on the global success 

of their Hans Zimmer collaboration on Pirates 

Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides; which has 

just enjoyed the biggest global opening weekend in 

the history of the movies.

first love: wowing crowds in the big fields across Europe. 

To coincide with their tour dates, Rubyworks 

is set to release 'Live In France', recorded at various 

venues around the Fifth Republic on the 11:11 

world tour. 

It's a very different live document to 2008's 'Live In 

Japan', which marked the end of Rod & Gab's seated 

performances. Their live shows are constantly 

evolving and the 11:11 tour mixed deft acoustic dexterity 

with an electrifying shred-fest of white hot 

duelling guitars. No chairs then, but plenty of FX pedal 

hopping and feet on the monitors rocking. The 

album captures this fusion framed by rapturous receptions 

from their fanatical legion of French followers.

Since forming in 2008, Airship have notched up acclaimed support 

tours with Editors, Biffy Clyro, The Joy Formidable and Frightened 

Rabbit. Two self-released EPs have received rave reviews. 

Influential Manchester listings guide City Limits called them “Music’s 

best-kept secret” in 2009, and they’ve deserved that tag ever since. 

Until now, when their determination to succeed in the right way has 

paid off with debut album Stuck In This Ocean and their secret is 

about to be unleashed on the world at large. Still with an average 

age of just 22, the quartet’s sound has progressed from an already 

remarkable start, their songs becoming more direct and their sound 

ever more open and ambitious from constant touring. 

Some major labels have paid attention and been spurned. Instead, 

Airship have bided their time, waiting until they had enough songs 

they were completely happy with for their debut album, knowing 

exactly what they wanted it to sound like, recording it with their 

own agenda, and without label interference, before eventually 

signing to PIAS. 

“It can be frustrating, seeing rubbish bands signing massive deals,” 

Elliott admits "but, when I listen to our album, it feels like 

everything has been timed just right. If we’d done this two years 

ago, we wouldn’t have been fully ready.” 

Stuck In This Ocean was made with Doves/Cherry Ghost producer 

Dan Austin in a total of just 15 days at Rockfield in Monmouth and 

Moles in Bath - Editors guitarist Chris Urbanowicz and Doves’ Martin 

Rebelski added initial production on the sessions. 

“Dan was out of our budget, but he loved the songs so much he 

wanted to produce the album anyway,” says Elliott. “He suggested 

we record the album as live, the four of us playing in a room with 

the minimum of overdubs, and that was a brilliant idea.”

August Darnell’s swaggering alter ego KID CREOLE dons his famed 

fedora and gets back in stride with his first high profile studio album in 

over 10 years this Summer, ‘I WAKE UP SCREAMING’. 

Darnell first came to prominence during the mid-‘70s in New York, 

forming Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band with his brother Stony 

Browder before producing a slew of eccentric projects for ZE Records 

including Cristina, Don Armando’s Seventh Avenue Rumba Band and 

Gichy Dan, as well as sporting his trademark zoot suit and fedora for 

the first time for the debut recordings by Kid Creole & The Coconuts. 

Signing on to Chris Blackwell’s Island Records and Seymour Stein’s 

Sire imprint, Darnell would become one of the ‘80s’ most unique and 

recognisable figures, scoring a brace of unforgettable chart hits 

mixing heavyweight tropical grooves with plenty of lyrical bite – ‘Stool 

Pigeon’, ‘Annie, I’m Not Your Daddy’, ‘I’m A Wonderful Thing Baby’ 

and more. 

With cover artwork echoing his love of 1940s film noir, the new album 

explores the vibrant mind of Darnell with a variety of themes and 

styles. Opener ‘Stony And Cory’, riding a bump ‘n’ hustle rhythm, 

recalls the Dr. Buzzard days and the stormy relationship between 

lead vocalist Cory Daye and bandleader Stony Browder; the title track 

re-works an ‘80s Coconuts classic, ‘Ticket To The Tropics’ and trippy 

lead single ‘I Do Believe’ brings in themes of Greek mythology over a 

driving groove. Elsewhere, we find rousing ballads ‘Tudor-Jones’ and 

the life-affirming ‘Love Remains’, the Compass Point / Island stylings 

of ‘This Is My Life’ and madcap falsetto groover, ‘Attitude’. 

Recorded at Darnell’s own studio in Sweden and mixed by Brennan 

Green (Chinatown Recordings) and Lars Nissen, the new album also 

features co-compositions and co-productions with Andy Butler of 

Hercules & Love Affair. 

‘I Wake Up Screaming’ is an essential return from one of the truly 

unique characters in the world of music. The release will be

dEUS are currently finishing their new album ‘Keep You 

Close’ which will be released in September 2011. Recorded 

with Canadian producer David Bottrill (Muse, Placebo, 

Tool a.o.), it is the band’s first release since ‘Vantage 

Point’ in 2008. ‘Keep You Close’ is also the title of one 

of the songs on the album. According to front man Tom 

Barman, the album is “very passionate, but danceable. If 

‘Vantage Point’ was a vodka redbull, ‘Keep You Close’ 

is a mojito.”
