Certificate Services
Civil Registration in England and Wales began on 1 July 1837. In Lincolnshire we currently
hold over 10,000 registers dating from 1837 to the present day. In 2003 all the registers
were moved from our local offices to one central location. Our local offices are no longer
able to issue certificates other than at the time of registration.
If you are interested in an event which took place before 1837, more information is available
at local libraries or Lincolnshire Archives on 01522 782040 or www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/
archives.
If a birth, death, marriage or civil partnership took place in Lincolnshire after 1837, you can
apply for a copy of the full certificate in four ways. If we cannot find the entry we will refund
your fee in full.
