Third Annual Ball Drop
Information for Harford County
The Carson Scholars Fund Ball Drop is the easiest and fastest way to guarantee a scholarship at your
school! Since this year’s golf tournament is taking place at Bulle Rock Golf Course in Harford
County, we have a special offer available to schools and students in the county who participate – if
you purchase a ball, you can come out to the golf course and watch the balls drop from the
helicopter! Students must be accompanied by adults and space is limited, so make your purchase as
soon as possible!
Since all payment and paperwork will be sent directly to the Carson Scholars Fund, your school
won’t have to handle any of this! Simply advertise the opportunity, and we’ll handle the rest!
Here are some ways that schools might advertise the opportunity:
Make copies of the purchase form to send home with students.
Post the purchase form on a school bulletin board.
Include a blurb about the opportunity in your school newsletter or on your school website.
Promote the opportunity to the PTA or other parent organization.
Remember that there are two ways to win:
1. When the balls are dropped: If a ball from your school ends up in the hole (or closest to it)
when they are dropped on October 22 nd , you win!
2. Automatically: You win right away if 75 balls are purchased on behalf of your school.
“Winning” means your school is guaranteed a scholarship winner for the 2013 scholarship season.
Applications will be made available in early November, so the timing is perfect!
Students, parents, and other community members are encouraged to promote this program as well.
Anyone can purchase a ball – just remember that only one school can be indicated per purchase
form. (Also remember that scholarships will be guaranteed for specific schools – not specific
students.)
The last day to purchase balls is Wednesday, October 17 th , 2012.

Win a Scholarship for Your School!
Join the Carson Scholars Fund in providing scholarships to academically talented and socially
conscious students. Numbered golf balls will be dropped by helicopter over the putting green during
the 5th Annual Ben Carson Celebrity Golf Tournament on October 22, 2012 at Bulle Rock Golf
Course in Havre de Grace, MD. If your numbered ball drops into the hole first, or is the closest ball to
the hole, as the grand prize winner, the school of your choice will receive a 2013 Carson Scholarship
and you will receive a fabulous prize!
If 75 balls are purchased indicating the same school, then that school will automatically receive a
2013 Carson Scholarship, before the balls are even dropped! When students, teachers, and parents
work together, everyone wins!
Return the ball registration form below with payment to enter. Only one school
can be indicated per order form. All proceeds
will benefit the Carson Scholars Fund.

Carson Scholar Ball Drop Contest Rules:
1. For an entry fee of $20, each participant will be entered into the Carson Scholars Fund Ball Drop to take place on October 22,
2012. Participants may enter more than once. Participants will be assigned numbered golf ball(s).
2. On October 22, 2012, the golf balls will be placed randomly in a bucket and dropped from a helicopter over a pre-selected
contest hole. The participant whose numbered ball goes into the prepared contest hole will have the school of his or her choice
awarded a 2013 Carson Scholar.
3. If multiple balls go into the hole, only the first ball that enters the hole will receive the designated grand prize.
4. If no balls go in the hole, a measurement will be taken and the closest ball to the hole, measured perpendicularly from the
center of the hole, will receive the designated prize. In the event of a tie of balls at equal distances from the center of the hole,
a coin toss will determine the grand prize winner.
5. The winner will be announced immediately following the ball drop and does not need to be present to win. The winner will be
posted on the Carson Scholars Fund website.
6. To participate in the golf ball drop, visit the Carson Scholars Fund website at www.carsonscholars.org to print out a ball
registration form. Forms must be sent by email, mail, or fax to the Carson Scholars Fund and be received by 5 pm on October
17, 2012 in order to be entered. FORMS MUST BE COMPLETE. Incomplete forms will not be accepted.
Entry Details:
1. All entries must include name, address, phone number, and email with required payment in order to be eligible. Entries may
be mailed to the Carson Scholars Fund, 305 W. Chesapeake Ave., Suite 310, Towson, MD 21204, faxed to 410-828-1007, or
emailed to sbody@carsonscholars.org. All entries must reach our office by no later than 5 pm Wednesday, October 17, 2012.
2. The Carson Scholars Fund is not responsible for mail or faxes that are lost, stolen, late, illegible, incomplete, damaged,
mutilated, misdirected, altered, tampered with, or postage-due. The Carson Scholars Fund is not responsible for the inability
of fax machine to complete call within specified time, whether due to busy lines, disconnections, fax machine or phone line
malfunctions, or other circumstances. The Carson Scholars Fund is not responsible for email entries that are late, undelivered,
unsuccessful, as well as incomplete or incompatible email attachments that are not able to be opened on the Carson Scholars
Fund computer system and network.
3. The Carson Scholars Fund assumes no responsibility for late, lost, stolen, damaged, misdirected, incomplete, or illegible
entries.
4. Ball purchases are non-refundable and non-transferrable.
5. Only accredited K-12 schools in the United States may be indicated on the entry form.
Prize Regulations:
1. The Carson Scholars Fund is not responsible for the winner’s inability to claim or use the prize in accordance with the
sweepstakes guidelines.
2. Prizes are non-transferrable and non-refundable.
3. The Carson Scholars Fund is not responsible for the postponement or cancellation of an event associated with the prize due to
weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
4. If an unforeseen event occurs (i.e. adverse weather) that prevents the Carson Scholars Fund Ball Drop from taking place as
outlined above, the prize winner will be determined by the random drawing of a ball. The numbered ball drawn will win the
grand prize.
5. The Carson Scholars Fund will require verification of eligibility and identity before releasing prizes.
6. In the event that a school is not specified as a recipient for the Grand Prize 2013 Carson Scholarship and as the recipient of a
2013 Carson Scholarship for schools reaching the sale of 75 balls, the scholarship will be donated to a school selected by the
Carson Scholars Fund.
7. Sweepstakes are open to all legal residents, age eighteen years and older as of entry date.
8. Limit one prize/winner per family/household per sweepstakes.
9. Odds of winning depend on number of valid entries received.
10. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply.
11. Decisions by the Carson Scholars Fund Ball Drop judges on all aspects of this sweepstakes will be final and binding.
12. Winners will be notified by phone, mail, or email. If a winner cannot be located or fails to claim prize within thirty days after
notification, the prize will be forfeited and the value of the individual grand prize award will be donated to the Carson Scholars
Fund for general operating expenses. The Carson Scholars Fund is not responsible for determining changes of address, phone
number, or email. If a participant changes his or her address, phone number, or email after entering the sweepstakes, it is his
or her sole responsibility to inform the Carson Scholars Fund of these changes in writing before the ball drop occurs on
October 22, 2012.
13. By entering the sweepstakes, the winner consents, without limitation or additional compensation, to the use of his or her
names, voice, photograph, likeness, and/or entry for advertising and/or trade purposes, except where prohibited by law.
14. By participating, each winner releases, discharges, indemnifies, and holds harmless the Carson Scholars Fund and their
respective offices, directors, employees, agents, and representatives from any and all liability, loss, harm, injury, damage, cost,
and expense whatsoever arising directly or indirectly from the use of the prize or participation in the sweepstakes.
15. Unforeseen events: The Carson Scholars Fund reserves the right to change this sweepstakes at their sole discretion at any time
the Carson Scholars Fund becomes aware of any circumstances or occurrences which would materially affect the sweepstakes
fairness. Such changes will be announced in a suitable way to reach the intended audience.
16. Only accredited K-12 schools in the United States may be awarded Carson Scholarships.
