Using Laser Doppler, run experiment for various
impeller speeds from 5 Hz – 45 Hz with 5 Hz
increments recording the flow velocity.
Plot impeller speed vs Flow velocity and find
corresponding impeller speed for flow velocities of 0.8,
1.4 & 1.8 m/s.
For each flow velocity, measure 4 sets of velocity
using laser Doppler
◦ Axial – Centerline velocity along the tunnel
◦ Transverse velocity at x = 470,000
◦ Transverse velocity at x = 190,000
◦ Transverse velocity at x = 30,000
Using measured velocity profiles, calculate coefficient
of drag for each of the three cases.
