Mike Melcher
Mike lives in Marysville and
is a teacher at Marysville High
School. Mike holds a degree
from Emporia State University
and is currently working on his
Master’s Degree. Mike enjoys
spending time with family and
friends, watching K-State basketball
and football, and coaching
young people. As a coach,
Mike is the head varsity boys’
basketball coach, head junior
high boys’ track coach, the
summer weights and conditioning
coach, and the assistant junior
high football coach. Mike
shares his leadership skills by
playing active roles as a member
for the school’s Multi-Tier
Systems of Support Team, as a
member of the Students
Assistance Team, as a Project
Stay Team Member, and as a
Faculty Advisory Committee
Member.
Julie Popejoy
Julie and her husband,
Frank, moved to Marshall
County from El Centro,
California, after they purchased
lovely home a Blue Rapids.
Julie and Frank have a son,
Carter. Julie is the manager
and owner of CJF Enterprises.
Julie is a board member for the
Blue Rapids Public Library and
is about to serve a four-year
term on the board of directors
for the Marshall County Arts
Cooperative. Julie loves
music, singing and performing.
She says that her community is
very important to her. She
wants to see this area thrive not
just survive.
Austin Schotte
Marshall County native,
Austin Schotte, is a graduate of
Marysville High School and
Kansas State University, Austin
is a loan officer at Citizens
State Bank. Austin grew up in
Marshall County where he says
that he learned great leadership
skills; he says, however, that he
still wants to become a better

Coby Sedlacek
Coby lives in Hanover with
his wife, Krista, and two children:
Brody and Ryder.
Although Coby lives in
Washington County, he works
in Marshall County at Landoll
Corporation. Coby is a graduate
of Kansas State University
where he played football for
Bill Snyder; while there, Coby
made the Big XII commissioner’s
honor roll. Coby is active
in Hanover’s Chamber of
Commerce and helps sponsor
Hanover’s annual fireworks
display. Coby is also the coowner
of Made 2 Grill and
Snappers Pub and Grub.
Allison Slifer
Alison lives in Vermillion
with her husband, Adam, and
two children, Dylan and
Alayna. Alison is the owner,
operator, and sole proprietor of
Alison Slifer Drafting and
Design. She is a member of the
Flint Hills Area Builders
Association as well as the
American Institute of
Architects where she served as
the relations director for the
National Associates
Committee. Alison enjoys
being creative and she likes to
spend time outdoors. Alison
enjoys watercolor painting,
making jewelry, hiking, kayaking,
and … then … sharing all
of these interests with her family.

the concept that it is the

Nolan Sump
Recently, Nolan married
Waterville native, Monica
Walter, and the two now reside
in Blue Rapids. Nolan received
his bachelor’s degree from
Bethany College and is currently
working on his master’s
degree from the same university.
Nolan is the gifted facilitator
for USD 498. Nolan is
interested in landscape design,
living history, theatre, and public
speaking. He is a member
of Oketo’s Masonic Lodge and
is currently the district deputy
of several lodges and a grand
lodge officer. Previously,
Nolan was on the board of
directors for Central Kansas
Fly Wheels and he was on the
Tree Advisory Board for the
city of Salina.
Marilyn Sweet
Marilyn is the administrator
and lead pastor for the Oregon
Trail Presbyterian Ministry
which is a partnership of the
four congregations in Marshall
and Washington Counties.
Marilyn lives in Oketo with her
husband, Dennis, and they have

the development of the biomedical
and bio-agricultural
industries of Kansas. Scott is a

President’s Club for Waters
Corporation where he participates
in round table executive
discussions to develop the
company’s 2012 business operations.
