ASYNCHRONOUS MOTORS, 3-PHASE, VENTILATED ENCLOSED
FLANGE-MOUNTED MOTOR
FLANGE ON FRAME WITH ACCESS TO BACK
Squirrel cage motor with metric sized shaft and flange
This family constitutes a list of motors which
have any deviation (in dimensions. performance. data. etc.) from motors which are
standard according to the manufacturers catalogues.
are made for a voltage which is not Atlas Copco standard. or
belong to a motor type range which is out of current production at the manufacturer.
The family description together with the assortment list contain only the main data (data
necessary for the installation of the motor as well as for retrieval purposes) for the motors.
For full specification of the motors listed in this family the appropriate drawing has to be
consulted. Drawing copies can be ordered from the responsible design department.
NAME + DESIGNATION
TECHNICAL DATA
Mounting arrangement
IM 40x1 according to AC STD 0971 0100 00
For the third numeral (x) of the code (indicating shaft
inclination). see appropriate drawing
Degree of protection
IP 20 or higher (terminal box IP 44) according to
AC STD 0971 031000
Method of cooling
IC 01 according to AC STD 0971 0300 00
Insulation
Winding insulation material class B or F according to AC STD 0971 0300 00 should
preferably be used. For actual material class. see appropriate drawing
Working conditions
Standard conditions are ambient temperature max. 40°C and altitude max. 1000 m above
sea level. If the motor is intended for other conditions this is stated on the appropriate
drawing
Starting method
All motors shall be equipped for direct-on-line (DOL) starting. Delta-coupled motors for
voltages up to and including 660 V shall in addition be equipped for star-delta (YD) starting
Voltage
Standardized voltages are given in AC STD 0970 2000 00
Frequency
50 Hz or 60 Hz. For motors designed for 50 Hz but used at 60 Hz the performance data are
changed according to AC STD 0971 0720 00
Rated output
Standardized rated outputs are given in AC STD 0971 0210 00

STANDARDIZED DIHENSIONS
Mounting flange and shaft extension dimensions are given in AC STD 0971 0200 00
MARKING
Data plate
Every motor shall be equipped with a data plate containing information according to
AC STD 0971 0400 00
If the motor, according to the assortment list, is intended for use at more than one
combination of input values (voltage. frequency. etc.) the data plate shall contain
information for all indicated combinations of input values. The information may be
separated on two or more data plates
Terminals
The terminals for cable connection shall be marked according to AC STD 0971 0400 00
EXPLANATIONS TO ASSORTMENT LIST
Column P KW
Rated output in kW
Column VOLTAGE
Input voltage in volts.
After the voltage value Y indicates that the motor shall be star-coupled and D that the
motor shall be delta-coupled. If no letter is indicated the coupling is at the choice of the
supplier.
If two voltage values are stated a hyphen (-) indicates a voltage interval within which the
motor shall be able to work at full load and an oblique stroke (I) indicates an alternative
coupling according to instructions on the inside of the terminal box cover
Column F HZ
Input frequency in Hz (cycles per second)
50 = the motor is intended to work only at 50 Hz
60 = the motor is intended to work only at 60 Hz
50 A -50 Z = the motor is intended to work at both 50 Hz and 60 Hz. Performance data are
given for 50 Hz and the data at 60 Hz have to be calculated according to
AC STD 0971 0720 00
Column N RPM
output full load speed in revolutions per minute and direction of rotation
A = anti-clockwise rotation viewing the D-end
C = clockwise rotation viewing the D-end
If no letter is indicated the motor can work in both directions and the cooling fan is
independent of the direction of rotation
Column ENG (Engineering)
Documentation responsibility:
Numerical code = Central Standards Department. see AC STD 0970 0005 00
Alphabetical code = Company according to AC STD 2224 K
Column DE MO (Design Modification)
Indicates the deviation from a standard motor. Codes. see AC STD 0971 0010 00
Column IN A
Rated current at full load (I) in amperes.
Where two values are indicated they refer to the two different voltage values stated in the
list
