A partnership between Tweed River Regional Art
Gallery and the Post Master Gallery
12 June to 8 August 2004
Curated by Gary Corbett and Ann Wookey
There was a time when Australia’s economy and
image “rode on the sheep’s back”. While wool,
wheat and beef were the industry’s traditional
icons, Australian agriculture today includes
such industries as wine and bush foods.
The exhibition examines rural and
agricultural themes on Australian stamps
and displays the drawings, photographs and
original artworks used in their design and
development.
Also at Tweed River
Australian Railways
14 August - 14 November 2004
Curated by Richard Breckon
16 March 2004
Maximum card
Australia’s fi rst railway opened in 1854 and
to commemorate the 150th anniversary, the
exhibition will feature railways on Australian
and world stamps.
Railways had a long history of carrying
the mail across Australia and often the job of
sorting mail was performed in railway vans
called “travelling post offi ces”. Images of trains,
tracks, stations and memorabilia will enthuse
trainspotters and stampspotters alike.
The Post Master Gallery is located at 321
