Mr. Mody and SIGNAL were the recipients of multiple industry and growth awards, including<br />
Ernst & Young High Technology Entrepreneur of the Year, KPMG Peat Marwick High<br />
Technology Entrepreneur of the Year, Small Business Administration (SBA) Entrepreneur and<br />
Business of the Year, <strong>Washington</strong> Technology Fast 50 Growth Award, Arthur Andersen’s Best<br />
Practices Award for Exceeding Customer Expectations, Deloitte & Touches Fast 500 and Inc.<br />
500, among others.<br />
The Mody Foundation has been actively involved in the <strong>Washington</strong>-area philanthropic<br />
<strong>com</strong>munity with participation in numerous organizations, including Inova Fairfax Hospital<br />
pediatric heart program, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Juvenile Diabetes Research<br />
Foundation, The Orphan Network, National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Easter Seals.<br />
The Mody Foundation also has supported Cardinals AAU Basketball, Alexandria Rising<br />
Stars Basketball, Joe Gibbs’ Youth For Tomorrow and The Good Samaritan Foundation. Mr.<br />
Mody was a charter member of the <strong>Washington</strong> Redskins Leadership Council and served as<br />
chairman of <strong>Washington</strong>’s 2003 Fight Night, which raised a then record $2 million for the<br />
Fight for Children organization.<br />
Anthony Nader is president and chief executive officer of NEW Customer Service<br />
Companies, a unit of NEW Asurion Corporation. Under his leadership, NEW has grown to be the<br />
leading global provider of extended service plans for the consumer electronics and appliance<br />
industries. NEW was the first <strong>com</strong>pany of its type to receive a JD Power Certification; it was<br />
recently recognized by the <strong>Washington</strong> Business Journal as one of the top 50 places to work.<br />
Mr. Nader is involved in a number of philanthropic, business and <strong>com</strong>munity organizations,<br />
including the Inova Health System Foundation Board, where he is past chairman, and the<br />
Inova Health System Board of Trustees. He is a member of Venture Philanthropy Partners,<br />
The Economic Club of <strong>Washington</strong>, D.C., and the Young Presidents Organization, a Partner in<br />
the <strong>Washington</strong> Nationals Baseball Club and a principal in SWaN Investors. He is a graduate<br />
of John Carroll University and holds an MBA in finance from the Weatherhead School of<br />
Management at Case Western Reserve University. Mr. Nader, his wife, Annette, and their three<br />
children live in Northern Virginia.<br />
Fredrick D. Schaufeld is managing director of SWaN Investors. SWaN has 20 widely<br />
diversified investments, including growth oriented <strong>com</strong>panies, domestic and international<br />
real estate ventures and the <strong>Washington</strong> Nationals Baseball Club. Mr. Schaufeld is also founder<br />
and chairman of NEW Customer Service Companies and vice chairman of its parent <strong>com</strong>pany,<br />
NEW Asurion Corporation, the world’s leading consumer product protection administrator.<br />
Mr. Schaufeld was a founder of the Service Contract Industry Council (SCIC) and with his wife,<br />
Karen Schaufeld, authored its first model law, a derivation of which was adopted by most<br />
states. Prior to founding NEW, Mr. Schaufeld worked in the live talent industry.<br />
Mr. Schaufeld is active on a number of corporate and philanthropic boards, including<br />
CustomInk.<strong>com</strong>; Loudoun Country Day School, where he is currently board chairman; Fight<br />
For Children; One Voice Movement; and the <strong>Washington</strong> Nationals Youth Baseball Academy.<br />
He is a member of Venture Philanthropy Partners and the Young Presidents’ Organization. Mr.<br />
Schaufeld is a graduate of Lehigh University and has three children.<br />
Earl Stafford is the chairman and CEO of The Stafford Foundation, which is a faithbased,<br />
nonprofit organization that supports more than 30 nonprofits that provide services<br />
to the disadvantaged and underserved and helps them to improve their lives and be<strong>com</strong>e<br />
self-reliant. The foundation created and funded The People’s Inaugural Project, which<br />
brought hundreds of disadvantaged Americans from across the country to witness and<br />
participate in the inauguration of President Obama. The foundation also established the<br />
Doing Good campaign with Dr. Bill Cosby’s endorsement. The campaign is designed for<br />
people who are seeking ways to help others be<strong>com</strong>e self-sufficient so that they may in turn<br />
help others who are underserved. Mr. Stafford is the former chairman and CEO of UNITECH,<br />
a technology solutions <strong>com</strong>pany that developed advance distributed training programs,<br />
training simulation systems and homeland security solutions for the Federal Government.<br />
Mr. Stafford enjoyed a distinguished career in the U.S. military, including serving as the<br />
assistant Air Force liaison officer to the Federal Aviation Administration where he was<br />
responsible for ensuring Department of Defense initiatives and programs which were<br />
integrated into the FAA’s National Airspace System modernization effort. He currently serves<br />
on the boards of the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, Drexel University, Wesley<br />
Theological Seminary, Venture Philanthropy Partners and Business Executives for National<br />
Security.<br />
George P. Stamas is a senior partner in the <strong>Washington</strong> and New York offices of the<br />
international law firm Kirkland & Ellis LLP. A graduate of the Wharton School of the University<br />
of Pennsylvania (1973) and the University of Maryland Law School (1976), Mr. Stamas began<br />
his career as a special counsel in the Enforcement Division of the Securities and Exchange<br />
Commission.<br />
He has been listed in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers and Best Lawyers in America<br />
for many years and was previously named by The American Lawyer as one of the leading 45<br />
lawyers in America under the age of 45.<br />
Mr. Stamas was the former vice chairman of the board of Deutsche Banc Alex Brown, Inc., a<br />
founding board member of FTI Consulting (NYSE), and also serves on the boards of NexCen<br />
Brands, Inc., Gridpoint Technologies, Medicity, Inc., and MidOcean Partners. He is also a<br />
venture partner of New Enterprise Associates and is active in numerous local and national civic<br />
affairs. In addition to being a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, he is on the board<br />
of the Shakespeare Theatre Company, Leadership 100, Caves Valley Golf Club, the Baltimore<br />
Orioles, and is an Archon of the International Order of St. Andrew.<br />
Cliff White was a founding partner and the financial architect of NEW Customer Service<br />
Companies Inc., the nation’s leading provider of extended-service plans and buyer-protection<br />
programs for consumer products. Founded in 1983 with headquarters in Sterling, Va., NEW<br />
provides award-winning post-sale consumer care for leading retailers, consumer service<br />
providers, wireless carriers and financial services firms in the United States, Canada, China,<br />
Japan, Turkey and the United Kingdom.<br />
A graduate of Lehigh University, Mr. White started his career as a CPA with Deloitte Haskins<br />
& Sells in New York City. There he was responsible for managing the field work on the Bank<br />
of New York and Mitsubishi International Corporation audits. Currently he and two other<br />
founding members of NEW are partners in SWaN Investors, a diversified private investment<br />
fund with more than 20 investments, including the <strong>Washington</strong> Nationals Baseball Club.<br />
He is active on the Board of the Community Foundation of Montgomery County, where<br />
he and his wife, Debbie, have a family fund. Mr. White is also on the foundation’s Sharing<br />
Montgomery Grants Committee and is a founder and co-chair of the foundation’s Neighbors<br />
in Need Montgomery Fund, which assists those in the county who are in dire need of housing,<br />
food and employment. The Whites also are donors in Venture Philanthropy Partners, an<br />
innovative philanthropic organization that makes investments in high-performing nonprofit<br />
organizations that serve children and youth of low-in<strong>com</strong>e families in the National Capital<br />
region. In addition, Mr. White is the treasurer of St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church in Bethesda,<br />
Md.
