2009 Annual Hospitals Report
Surveyed hospitals varied by locations, size, complexity of services, and the number or diversity of endoscopic and other
surgical/medical procedures performed. More than half of the facilities surveyed performed endoscopic procedures; 7
of them were urban and 1 was rural. General surgery; cardiovascular procedures; urology; ear, nose, and throat (ENT)
procedures; and foot surgery were performed in 5 surveyed hospitals. Ophthalmologic interventions, thoracic surgery,
pain management, and obstetrics-gynecology procedures were performed in 4 hospitals. Three of the hospitals surveyed
reported performing plastic surgery, 6 hospitals performed orthopedic procedures, and 2 performed oral surgery as
represented in Table 10.
