Mikaela Dörfel<br />
Mikaela Dörfel found her inspiration in dance and movement. She has created a pair <strong>of</strong> tall, elegantly curved candle<br />
holders that take hold <strong>of</strong> one another in a dance-like embrace. This is what Dörfel has to say about her new design:<br />
“The body’s straight, robust forms and the slim lines <strong>of</strong> the arm express a simple elegance. A combination <strong>of</strong> the<br />
masculine and feminine tat are united in a harmonious balance when the candle sticks are set close together”.<br />

verner PantOn waS One Of eurOPe’S leaDing DeSignerS in the 1960S.<br />
verner Panton’s (1926 - 1998) most important contribution to design was in furniture, lighting and<br />
home furnishing, where he experimented with new shapes and strong colours. Steel, plastic and<br />
fibreglass were among his favourite materials.<br />
geometry 1:<br />
The pattern known as “geometry 1” dates from 1960. it was Panton’s first and most famous textile<br />
design, and in 1963 won him The international Design Award in the USA.<br />

“i like a having a natural balance in my designs”, says Jakob Wagner. ”The finishing touch at the top <strong>of</strong> the<br />
carafe is a good <strong>of</strong> example <strong>of</strong> this. it protects the glass, but also opens up so one can see what’s inside.<br />
There is a play between open and closed – a balance between two opposites”.<br />

Aurélien barbry<br />
Menu’s new c<strong>of</strong>fee press pot was designed by Aurélien Barbry. The French designer has created an elegant<br />
and extremely functional pot in which the exact amount <strong>of</strong> space was made for the details needed for the<br />
desired functions: Two layers <strong>of</strong> stainless steel create an insulating effect so that the pot keeps c<strong>of</strong>fee hot<br />
longer than its ordinary counterparts.<br />

Pernille vea<br />
Designer Pernille vea chose a bold blend <strong>of</strong> semi-transparent New Bone China<br />
and silicone for Menu’s new tea and c<strong>of</strong>fee series. The series design is simple<br />
and sleek, and the mugs, teapot and c<strong>of</strong>fee press pot have all the modern<br />
functions one could hope for. At first glance the pots resemble earlier porcelain<br />
models, but by lining the fine porcelain in mocha coloured silicone Pernille vea<br />
has given them a straightforward touch.<br />

Jakob Wagner has designed a very cool jacket that fits most bottles. The jacket, in all its simplicity, consists<br />
<strong>of</strong> two layers <strong>of</strong> fabric and a removable lining that contains cooling gel. Once the cooling gel lining has been<br />
chilled in the freezer, place the jacket on the bottle and in 15 minutes the wine’s temperature will drop by<br />
about 10o C. The jacket keeps wine cool for more than hour – long enough for you to finish your meal or enjoy<br />
a cool bottle <strong>of</strong> summertime wine outdoors with friends.
