Christmas Concert
A VIEW TO THE FUTURE
Thank you to everyone for
coming along and joining in
the festivities! It was great to
see so many families! Many
parents have spoken to me
and have said how much they
enjoyed the evening. Our
teachers were very proud and
delighted with the way in
which all our children performed
so confidently and
enthusiastically.
The Grinch makes an
appearance at the concert.
2012
2012 has been an eventful and exciting year for everyone at
Gembrook Primary School. We should all be very proud of our
fabulous children. I congratulate every student for their commitment
to their learning and positive attitude. There have
been many outstanding personal achievements.
Congratulations to the students who received Excellence
Awards at Assembly last week. They are to be commended for
outstanding and consistent performance in various aspects of
our school life.
Our students continue to demonstrate the YOU CAN DO IT keys
and embrace our value, RESPECT. It is always great to see how
well they relate to each other in class and in the playground.
This year our students have enjoyed participating in many extra
curricula activities including: Under the Big Top, Jellybeans
music program and performance, the swimming program, Excel
instrumental music, Prep Family Nights, whole school excursion
on Puffing Billy, cricket clinics, swimming sports, athletics
sports, junior house sports, fun run, girls’ footy day, fantastic
friends activities, big buddies program, maths day, science family
night, HPV Challenge, Year 6 girls leadership program, tree
planting, Coach Approach Sports, leadership programs, Year 2
camp to Halls Camp, Nude Food Day, Eco Warriors, Education
Week celebrations, GEMBOOK Week activities, Family and
Friends day, Premier’s Reading Challenge, Enterprise Market,
CFA education, EDEC Lightning Premiership Day, Seasons program,
PMP, Walk to School days, basketball workshops and Pre
School and secondary school visits. What a year!
I would like to sincerely thank all our staff, school councilors
and the many community members who have worked together
and contributed in some way to the life of the school in
2012. Without a doubt Gembrook is very fortunate to have a
dedicated and committed team, and so many wonderful parents
who willing to be involved in the school.
Classes 2013
The 2013 classes met this week and spent a session together. I
am not sure who was more excited about the 2013 school
year - the students or the teachers! There certainly was a
great deal of discussion in the classrooms and playgrounds.
This session is part of the intensive internal transition program
we have at Gembrook. The 2013 school year promises to be an
exciting year with a stimulating and challenging teaching and
learning program planned.
The Year Book
The Year book for 2012 will be sent home this week. I am sure
that you and your family will enjoy looking through it and talking
about the many events, activities and programs. It will be a
great memento of the past year. Many thanks to Jessie Hutcheson
for producing such a wonderful edition of the year
book. It is a great memento of a fabulous year.
Year 6 Graduation
Tonight our Year 6 students will be involved in a very special
event – their graduation from primary school. Everyone is looking
forward to this significant occasion. Many of the teachers
have watched as these young people have progressed through
the school and tonight we will celebrate their time with us. It
is exciting to see that they are very well prepared for their next
step in schooling. We wish them well for the future and success
at secondary school.

The start of the 2013 school year........
The first day for students next year will be Thursday 31
January. The school office will be open from Wednesday 29
January. Booklists have been sent home and are required to be
paid by the start of the school year. The school bus will begin
on Thursday 31 January. The first day for canteen lunches will
be Friday 7 February. Assemblies will continue to be on Friday
mornings at 9:00am and I encourage parents/ carers to come
along to this weekly school gathering.
