R.I. National Guard Soldiers Support Military Values<br />

Tech. Sgt. Myco Apat is a broadcast<br />

journalist with the 143rd Airlift Wing out<br />

of Quonset Point, R.I., who is currently<br />

deployed to Afghanistan as the personal<br />

videographer for Gen. David Petraeus.<br />

While performing his duties as videographer,<br />

Apat, who is also a graphic artist,<br />

was asked to design a coin to commemorate<br />

Petraeus’s role as the commander<br />

of International Security Assistance<br />

Force and U.S. Forces Afghanistan.<br />

“I’m motivated [to step outside my<br />

offi cial role as videographer] because<br />

doing artwork is what I enjoy and love to<br />

Sgt. First Class Michael Gesualdi is<br />

a full-time member of the Rhode Island<br />

National Guard’s Joint Staff Communications<br />

section. He performs as an information<br />

technology specialist and is responsible<br />

for helping to maintain the Rhode<br />

Island National Guard’s network systems.<br />

As a long time member of the J6 staff,<br />

Gesualdi developed a reputation for his<br />

integrity as a Soldier. To live by the Army<br />

value of integrity, a Soldier must fi rmly<br />

adhere to a code of moral and ethical principles.<br />

do, be creative, and learn new equipment/software,”<br />

Apat said. He continues<br />

to develop graphic designs for members<br />

of the ISAF command staff while<br />

performing as Petraeus’ videographer.<br />

“We are very proud of Tech. Sgt.<br />

Apat’s accomplishments and the dedication<br />

he has exhibited in Afghanistan,”<br />

said Col. Robert Germani Jr., vice<br />

commander of the 143d Airlift Wing. “Our<br />

deployed Airmen continue to give <strong>The</strong><br />

Rhode Island Air National Guard a global<br />

reputation for excellence in everything<br />

they do.”<br />

Sgt. First Class Michael Gesualdi<br />

in word and deed. Gesualdi performs<br />

his duties without favoritism and<br />

works tirelessly to provide every one<br />

of his customers with professional<br />

and reliable service.<br />

“Sgt. First Class Gesualdi makes<br />

every effort to help the customer;<br />

their issues become his issues,” said<br />

Lt. Col. Michael Tetreault, director of<br />

the J6 staff section. “I know he will<br />

do everything he can to ensure their<br />

requests are resolved to everyone’s<br />

satisfaction.”<br />
