SAFETY<br />

The Wing Safety Office is responsible for oversight<br />

of all unit safety programs. The individual units are<br />

responsible for maintaining safe working and living<br />

conditions for the base. The Wing Safety Office has three<br />

major divisions: Ground, Flight and Weapons.<br />

Ground safety inspects work areas and recreational<br />

facilities for hazards and recommends corrective action. It<br />

also conducts safety training classes. Flight safety monitors<br />

the flying operations of the wing’s six flying squadrons,<br />

oversees all investigations of aircraft mishaps within the<br />

wing’s area of responsibility and directs the wing’s flight<br />

mishap prevention programs. Weapons safety inspects<br />

work areas for hazards and compliance with instructions.<br />

They are responsible for all weapons site plans.<br />

EDUCATION SERVICES<br />

The Education Services Center, located in Building<br />

2441, the Kennedy Professional Development Center<br />

(PDC). <strong>Air</strong> <strong>Force</strong> members and families are provided<br />

assistance with both on- and off-base educational<br />

opportunities. Programs available to the active-duty<br />

military population are: Tuition Assistance, <strong>Air</strong> <strong>Force</strong><br />

Commissioning, <strong>Air</strong> <strong>Force</strong> Educational Leave of Absence,<br />

the Community College of the <strong>Air</strong> <strong>Force</strong>, Educational<br />

advisement and testing. The PDC contains three<br />

testing centers: Education Testing in Room 139/Military<br />

Testing in Room 155 and a National Testing Center in<br />

Room 141. The <strong>Base</strong> Library is also located in the PDC.<br />

Pima Community College, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical<br />

University, Park University and Troy University all offer<br />

on-base evening and weekend courses required to<br />

complete undergraduate and graduate degrees. For more<br />

ON-BASE SCHOOLS<br />

PIMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE<br />

Pima Community College is a two-year college<br />

serving the greater Tucson metropolitan area at six<br />

locations throughout Pima County, as well as multiple<br />

learning and education centers that deliver specialized<br />

training programs.<br />

Pima's <strong>Davis</strong>-<strong>Monthan</strong> Education Center (DMEC) offers<br />

quality academic instruction leading to a two-year Liberal<br />

Arts degree, or an Associate of Science or Associate of<br />

Business Administration degree for transfer to an Arizona<br />

state university. Classes are, primarily, 8-week sessions<br />

and are offered during the evenings or on the weekends<br />

to provide flexibility and convenience. DMEC is located<br />

in Bldg. 2441 in the Kennedy Professional Development<br />

Center and is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to<br />

5 pm, and closed from 1 pm to 2 pm. Students can take<br />

assessment exams, receive admissions and registration<br />

advising, financial aid services, GI Bill and Federal Financial<br />

Aid (FAFSA) information, and sign up for CLEP and DSST<br />
