<strong>REQUEST</strong> <strong>FOR</strong> IN<strong>FOR</strong>MATION <strong>FOR</strong> PROCUREMENT OF<br />
BI-MODULAR CHARGE SYSTEMS <strong>FOR</strong> 155MM GUNS<br />
1. <strong>Indian</strong> <strong>Army</strong> is planning to procure Bi-modular Charge System<br />
(BMCS) for 155mm guns. It is proposed to identify probable vendors who<br />
can undertake the above project.<br />
2. Vendors are requested to furnish comprehensive details of<br />
BMCS in form of brochures alongwith responses to the following<br />
questions:-<br />
(a) Is the propellant cased in a fully combustible Cartridge Case?<br />
(b) Do the modules have means for identification at night?<br />
(c) How can the two types of modules be differentiated from each<br />
other?<br />
(d) What is the minimum range overlap between two successive<br />
zones?<br />
(e) What is the maximum Muzzle Velocity and maximum range<br />
achieved with each zone for the following calibres :-<br />
(i) 155mm / 39 Calibre.<br />
(ii) 155mm / 45 Calibre.<br />
(iii) 155mm / 52 Calibre.<br />
(f) Dimensions. What are the dimensions of the BMCS? Can it<br />
be loaded on the loading tray/trough of existing 155mm guns without<br />
special preparation?<br />
(g) Pre Ignition. At what temperature of the barrel does pre<br />
ignition/cook off occur?<br />
(h) Operating Temperature. What is the range of operating<br />
temperature of the BMCS?

(j) Gun Wear. What is the EFC value when a projectile is fired<br />
with the highest zone.<br />
(k) Shelf Life. What is the shelf life of the BMCS?<br />
(l) Recoil/Stroke. Is the recoil / stroke obtained in various zones<br />
within the permissible recoil limits?<br />
(m) Compatibility. Is the BMCS compatible with existing 155mm<br />
projectiles?<br />
(n) Range Tables. Can provisional Range Tables based on ICAO<br />
System be provided with the BMCS for the trials?<br />
(o) Storage. What is the temperature range under which the<br />
BMCS can be stored under field conditions?<br />
