Sacarappa, Mr. Danielson went to Saugerties,<br />

New York, where he remained<br />

for eight years, at the end <strong>of</strong> which time<br />

he was placed in charge <strong>of</strong> the Congregational<br />

church at Southbridge, Massa-<br />

chusetts. Here his work, judged by the<br />

number brought into the fold, was most<br />

telling and effective, and he had the priv-<br />

ilege and joy <strong>of</strong> receiving at one service<br />

as many as fifty communicants into the<br />

church under his care. His work here<br />

covered a period <strong>of</strong> twelve years. Mr.<br />

Danielson next spent two years at Wind-<br />

sor Locks, <strong>Connecticut</strong>, following tbis<br />

with nearly seven at Southington, Con-<br />

necticut, where he concluded his service<br />

as a minister <strong>of</strong> God, after a long and full<br />

career. Mr. Danielson, from his earliest<br />

years in the ministry, had been an able<br />

preacher, and a pastor beloved for his<br />

keen sympathy and his genial humor.<br />

Rev. Joseph Danielson married, on<br />

November i, 1865, Frances Weld, daugh-<br />

ter <strong>of</strong> Deacon Stowell Leverett and Avis<br />

Ludentia (Whitmore) Weld. Mrs. Dan-<br />

ielson survives her husband and resides<br />

in Danielson, <strong>Connecticut</strong>. Their chil-<br />

dren are: 1. Louise Whitmore, born October<br />

27, 1868; now a teacher in the High<br />

School at Danielson, <strong>Connecticut</strong>. 2.<br />

Frances Weld, born January 17, 1873;<br />

editor <strong>of</strong> the Congregational Sunday<br />

School Publishing Society. 3. Alice Josephine,<br />

born March 23, 1882, married<br />

Edward Field Walker, ; Jr. they are the<br />

parents <strong>of</strong> three children: Edward Field,<br />

Avis Walker, and Katherine Frances<br />

Walker.<br />

Rev. Joseph Danielson died February<br />

20, 1898. Tributes to his memory came<br />

from all over the country from men who<br />

had known him, and having known him<br />

had loved him, and from the churches in<br />

which he ministered so faithfully. The<br />

following is but a brief excerpt from one<br />

<strong>of</strong> the many <strong>memorial</strong>s passed at the time<br />

<strong>of</strong> his death<br />

[>'• v. Joseph Danielson was a good man. Earth<br />

is richer for having had him. You who call him<br />

pastor, and we who know <strong>of</strong> his life and work<br />

unite to recognize him to-day as one to whom<br />

the Master has said, "Well done, come up<br />

higher."<br />

Rev. Joseph Danielson * * * died in the<br />

world's sense <strong>of</strong> the word, one morning <strong>of</strong> the<br />

month just past. But he did not die. To the<br />

best <strong>of</strong> his ability, for more than thirty years, he<br />

built his clean, sweet, loving, consecrated, Chris-<br />

tian self into scores and hundreds. These took<br />

on his character. They will give it to others; and<br />

so in these he touched and through the power <strong>of</strong><br />

the Divine moulder, he will live not only while<br />

earth lasts, but while eternity lasts.<br />

HOLLEY, Julian R.,<br />

Business Man,<br />

As treasurer and secretary <strong>of</strong> the Bris-<br />

tol Brass Company, <strong>of</strong> Bristol, Connect-<br />

icut, Mr. Holley holds a responsible position<br />

which he most efficiently fills. For<br />

thirty-five years, 1883-1918, he has been<br />

associated with that company in the ac-<br />

counting department, and is an authority<br />

on all matters pertaining to his department,<br />

past or present. The Holleys came<br />

to Tolland county, <strong>Connecticut</strong>, from the<br />

State <strong>of</strong> Rhode Island.<br />

(I) Perry Holley, grandfather <strong>of</strong> Jul-<br />

ian R. Holley, <strong>of</strong> Bristol, was the original<br />

settler. He was a blacksmith by trade,<br />

and spent the greater part <strong>of</strong> his life employed<br />

at his trade in his native Rhode<br />

Island. Late in life he located in Mans-<br />

field, <strong>Connecticut</strong>, and there purchased a<br />

farm, and after making such changes as<br />

he deemed necessary, he returned to<br />

Rhode Island, intending to bring his fam-<br />

ily and occupy his new purchase at once.<br />

But he was taken seriously ill and died<br />

after a short illness. His widow, Celia
