Brunton (Ruth Caplan) and her husband both received Master's degrees at the University of Colorado in August. '44 BS; '43, '47 DVM—Suzanne R. Coffin, daughter of the late Harry R. Coffin '08 and Mrs. Coffin, head resident at the Delta Gamma sorority house, was married July 17 in Ithaca to Dr. William G. Schaer, Jr. '43. They are now living in Pine Plains. '44, '47 BS in AE—W. Addison Lincoln of 1195 East Main Street, Stratford, Conn., son of Howard A. Lincoln '11, is an industrial engineer with Chance Vouht division of United Aircraft Co. A second child and first daughter, Ann Lincoln, was born to the Lincolns August 28, 1947. '44, '47 AB, '48 MS; '45 BS— H. Landon Thomas is a graduate assistant in the chemistry department and Mrs. Thomas (Elsie Sheffer) '45 a secretary in the halls of residence department at Indiana University. They live in a university trailer court on the campus: 0-13 Woodawn Court, Bloomington, Ind. They write that they have seen W. Avery Wood '44, who is a graduate assistant in the bacteriology department there and working for Professor Irwin I. Gunsalus '35, formerly at Cornell. '44 BS—Priscilla A. Young, who was to have been married to Raymond J. Waltz, Syracuse '43, last May, was taken ill with polio the first of April and had to spend three months in the hospital. She is still recuperating, but "coming along fine," and hopes to be married this month. Her address is 277 Glen Avenue, Sea Cliff. '45, '48 BS—Bart J. Epstein of 3009 Kingsbridge Terrace, New York City 63, is studying for the PhD in soils at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, N. J. Also enrolled at Rutgers for PhDs, he says, are I. Broeker, materials inspector with Standard Oil Development Co., married Martha R. Crane of Elizabeth, N. J., June 19. They live in Apartment 40B, 843 East Front Street, Plainfield, N. J. '47 AB—Evelyn J. Weiner was married August 22 to Morton Barrow, a graduate of Brooklyn College and Columbia University law school. She is a representative for the New York Telephone Co. C., office of the General Electric patent department, Room 1055, Munsey Building, doing search work and preparing patent applications. In the evening he studies law at George Washington. '48 BS—Margaret C. Smith is with the processed division of the fruit and vegetable branch of the US Department of Agriculture as an inspector of processed foods and stationed at Easton, Md. She is the daughter of Malcolm E. Smith '23 of 400 Great Falls Street, Fall Church, Va. '48 BS—Martha Smith is a nursery school teacher in Rochester, where her address is 133 Exchange Street. '48 BS; '45 BS in ChemE, '47 B- ChemE—Louise Van Nederynen and Paul T. Atteridg '45 were married July 4 in Castletown-on-Hudson. They live at 188 Harrison Avenue, Montclair, N. J. Mrs. Atteridg is a nursery school teacher at the Carteret School. Necrology '93 BS—Jessie Alice Burr of Gilmore City, Iowa, May 25, 1948. Sister, the late Nellie A. Burr '93. '95 LLB—LeRoy James Skinner, senior member of the law firm of Skinner & Skinner, November 4, 1948, at his home, 238 West Center Street, Medina. He was counsel for several Federal and State agencies, assisting during the last fifteen years in the work of the Home Owners Loan Corp. and the Federal Housing Authority; was a director and former head of the New York State Automobile Association; and was Orleans County historian. Son, Lee J. Skinner '26. Phi Delta Phi. '98 ME(EE)—Jerome Doubleday Kennedy, who retired in 1939 as general telephone sales manager of the Western Electric Co., November 4, 1948, in Short Hills, N. '00 PhB—Mary Eloise Harding, former teacher in Piermont, Gloversville, and Orange, N. J., August 24,1948, in Middletown, where she lived at 133 West Main Street. She did graduate work at the Universities of Berlin and Heidelberg. '04 LLB—George Major Champlin, former Cortland County Judge and Surrogate, November 4, 1948, at his home, 12 Central Avenue, Cortland, He was Cortland City Judge from 1907-13 and County Judge from 1918-35. '04 BS—Howard Grenville Coville, who retired this year as supervisor in the Virginia Department of Agriculture Division of Markets, October 19, 1948, at his home, 773 Maple Avenue, Waynesboro, Va. From 1908-24, he operated an orchard in Crozet, Va. Alpha Zeta. '08—Dr. Otto Lowits (Isralowitz), physician, September 1, 1948. He lived and had his office at 78 Clinton Avenue, Newark, N. J. ' ΊO ME—Professor Charles Lellan Allen of the school of engineering at Pennsylvania State College, June 29, 1948. He lived at 711 North Allen Street, State College, Pa. ΊO MD—Dr. James Harrington Biram, for twenty-eight years a staff surgeon at Hartford Hospital, October 30,1948, at his home, 18 Birch Road, West Hartford, Conn. A specialist in surgery and infections of the extremities, he helped develop the postgraduate training program in occupational medicine at Yale. He was medical director of Colt's Manufacturing Co. in Hartford from 1941-46. ΊO BS, '42 AM in Ed—Louis Eugene Johnson of 106 South Main Street, Marion, October 23, 1948, of a heart attack while walking to Schoellkopf Field for the Cornell-Army game. He had taught agriculture in Holland Patent, Constableville, Hannibal, and Marion, and was principal in Hannibal for twelve years. He was an avid follower of Cornell sports and wrote several letters to the NEWS on former, baseball, basketball, and football players. Sons, Elliott H. Johnson '37 and Dana S. Johnson '51. ΊO—Emile Richard Waldenberger of 3298 Agar Place, Bronx, a member of the editorial staff of the New York Herald Tribune since 1939, November 8,1948. Finch '78 and grandson of the late Francis M. Finch, Judge of the US Court of Appeals and first Dean of the Law School, November 2, 1948, in St. Louis, Mo.
