SCI 214 (1) Introduction to Science Teaching in the 21 st Century, fall only
SEC 302 (4) General Methods of Instruction in the Middle and Secondary Schools
Prerequisite: 45 semester hours; 2.50. combined GPA; EDC 150 (―C‖ or better) or concurrent
enrollment, or equivalent competencies. NOTE--C-Base examination much be passed to
proceed beyond this point in the professional education program.
PSY 360 (3) Educational Psychology
Prerequisite: PSY 121 The psychology course is to be taken prior to or concurrently with EDC 350
IMT 365 (3) Instructional Applications of Technology and Media
Prerequisite: CIS 101, CSC 101, or competency test. Recommended concurrent enrollment with
SEC 302.
EDC 350 (3) School and Society
Prerequisite: PSY 360 or concurrent enrollment. Admission to Teacher Education Program.

SCI 493 & SCI 494 Supervised Teaching
Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education Program, completion of appropriate special
methods courses, completion of Portfolio Checkpoint 2, 15 hours completed at Missouri
State University with GPA of 2.50 or above, major GPA of 2.50 or above, a grade of ―C‖ or
better in all professional education courses, successful completion of subject area praxis,
results of TB test (must be within a year upon completion of student teaching),
recommendation of advisor and departmental recommendation. Note—Students are encouraged
to have completed the PRAXIS II exam prior to student teaching..
Admission to the Teacher Education Program
COM 115--―C‖ or better (―C‖ or better not required of post-baccalaureate students)
CBASE--Score of 265 or better in all 5 subcategories (not required of post-baccalaureate students)
Combined GPA of 2.50 or better
Major GPA of 2.50 or better (post-baccalaureate students only)
SEC 302 (or SFR 250 and SEC 300/301) with a ―C‖ or better
ACT score--If required by DESE (certification within 5 years of high school graduation)
Highway Patrol background check
Completion of Portfolio checkpoint one
