risk. Participants should understand that they are responsible for all costs arising out <strong>of</strong> injury or property damage<br />

sustained through participation. It is strongly urged that participants obtain sufficient health insurance coverage,<br />

whether it is through the university or a private source. All participants must provide a current <strong>Samford</strong> ID before<br />

participating. For information on all campus recreation programs, go to www.samford.edu/camprec or 302 Seibert Hall.<br />

Intramural sports annually consist <strong>of</strong> team sports: flag football, volleyball, basketball, s<strong>of</strong>tball, tennis, soccer,<br />

bowling, ultimate Frisbee, dodgeball and kick ball. Active sports clubs are student led and include the soccer club, men’s<br />

and women’s lacrosse, crew, swing kids, outdoor adventure club and ultimate Frisbee club. The outdoor club <strong>of</strong>fers a<br />

variety <strong>of</strong> recreation trips that may include hiking, rappelling, mountain biking, canoeing, snow skiing, or white-water<br />

rafting. Costs for trips will vary.<br />

Current fitness programming consists <strong>of</strong> aerobics classes on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.<br />

Jazzercise, Zumba, Spin, Fitness in Motion and kickboxing classes are <strong>of</strong>fered at a minimal cost to participants.<br />

The Alpine Tower and Carolina Climbing Wall are 50-foot-high structures <strong>of</strong>fering more than 30 different<br />

climbing routes with varying degrees <strong>of</strong> challenge involved. The outdoor facilities are open by appointment only.<br />

Student organizations, departmental faculty and staff, or other groups interested in team-building, improving<br />

communication and enhancing self-esteem are encouraged to contact the Office <strong>of</strong> Campus Recreation for more<br />

information.<br />

Weather<br />

In the event <strong>of</strong> inclement weather, students should receive an advisory e-mail from the University. In addition, the<br />

University has established a weather hotline at 205-726-4636 and maintains a Weather Update button on <strong>Samford</strong>’s<br />

homepage at www.samford.edu. The HUB is also a point <strong>of</strong> contact and information during inclement weather. Should<br />

you have questions about your local road conditions, you can find information at www.dot.state.al.us/docs/travel.
