INVESTIGATIVE
SERVICES
The Investigative Services Bureau is
headquartered at 2255 Hanover Pike, Hampstead,
Maryland. It is managed by the Bureau Chief,
Major Nicholas A. Plazio, the Assistant Bureau
Chief, Captain Clarence W. Lust, and the
administrative assistant to the bureau chief, Ms.
Judy McGee. This team of law enforcement
professionals ensures that all issues related to
the field of criminal investigations are completely
addressed without prejudice, are consistent with
all statutes, and are accomplished pursuant to
the regulations promulgated by the Sheriff’s
Office. Though singular in purpose, the bureau
is divided into specialized areas. At present, there
are deputies and civilians assigned to the criminal
investigation section, fraud/white collar/internet
crimes section, drug task force, child advocacy
and investigation center, domestic violence section,
warrant and fugitive section, D.A.R.E. (drug and
alcohol resistance effort) program, child support
section, circuit and district court security teams, and
the mobile crime lab.
Realizing the effects that the future economical
picture would have on local law enforcement,
the bureau continued to find means of funding
of the Investigative Services Bureau is the law
enforcement representative assigned to the U.A.S.I.
Committee, and through committee consensus,
reached an agreement that the monies would be
used for intelligence equipment, tactical equipment,
and replacement of
the citizens of Carroll
County benefit from
federal funding and the
Sheriff’s Office continues
to remain on the cutting
