Joseph Smith Cogsweli, graduated <strong>in</strong> 1868. from Bangor <strong>The</strong>ological<br />

Sem<strong>in</strong>ar)-. He commenced his m<strong>in</strong>istry as Pastor of the Congregational<br />

Church <strong>in</strong> Zumbrota, M<strong>in</strong>n., where he rema<strong>in</strong>ed about a year; returned to<br />

New England, and was <strong>in</strong>stalled Jan., 1870, Pastor of Congregational Church<br />

<strong>in</strong> Holden, Me. He resigned May i, 1873, 'and preached for two years <strong>in</strong><br />

Strong, Me. Rev. Mr. Cogswell then removed to West Auburn, Me., and was<br />

pastor from Oct. 31, 1875, to 1881, when he was called to the pastorate of the<br />

Presbyterian Church <strong>in</strong> W<strong>in</strong>dham, N. H. He was <strong>in</strong>stalled Dec. 21, 18S1.<br />

and cont<strong>in</strong>ued there several years. Rev. Mr. Cogswell was a frequent con-<br />

tributor to religious newspapers and journals. In 1878 he published a History<br />

OF Androscogg<strong>in</strong> County, Ma<strong>in</strong>e. In 1880 he furnished a Sketch<br />

OF AuRURN. Me., for Appleton's Cvcllip^dia. Rev. Mr. Cogswell received,<br />

<strong>in</strong> 1SS3, the degree of A. M. from Dartmouth College. Vi.L History of<br />

Cogswell, was born March 2, 181 3, <strong>in</strong> Canterbury, N. H. She married,<br />

Sept. 16, 1S35, Charles Giahavt, son of Asa and Rachel (Morse) Gra-<br />

ham. He was born Nov. 3, 1S09. <strong>in</strong> Concord, N. H., where thev<br />

resided. Mr. Graham died June 11, 18S0.<br />
