The Sustainable Planning Concept of Concerto AL 

Piano was developed and promoted in occasion of a 

Consensus Conference that was held in Alessandria 

on the 4 th July 2008 (1 st Annual Period) This subtask 

was completed. (D.1.1.)

Community Task Force: 



ACHIEVEMENTS: 

The Local Community Task Force is constituted by: 

city managers, citizens and associations; experts; 

promoters and builders. This group has been 

formalised as a Concerto AL Piano Forum, for the 

analysis, discussion of implementation of the 

Project. This sub-task can be considered completed.

Existing condition of the via Gandolfi social housing district: 

- 300 dwellings dated 1976 

- very poor energy conditions : 260 kWh/m2 y for heating 

- decayed facades 

- abandoned open spaces and gardens

RENEW district in via Gandolfi at the completion of refurbishment: 

- external wall insulation, made of fiber-wood coating 

- windows replacement, attic insulation, passive loggias

3.1. Sustainability: Site Footprint Assessment ACHIEVEMENTS: 

The Site Footprint is based on an innovative 

assessment method, easy to predict and largely 

replicable. Based on estimating the level of 

performance for 8 different indicators: energy, 

mobility, air, water, waste, soil, materials, biodiversity. 

These indicators were categorised into 

three different levels: current practice, best 

practice, exemplar practice. This activity is ongoing, 

to be completed by m 30.
