Change is in the Stony Point A.I.R. (Achievement, Integrity, Respect)
We are happy to share the results of our student initiatives this year and recent updates.
Stony Point High School continues to embrace our Positive Behavior Interventions and Support
initiative that continues to make a significant impact on our campus. The results of our new
tardy sweeps have shown that more students are arriving to class on time. Faculty and staff
appreciate the students’ dedication and notable effort in arriving to class in an efficient and
timely manner. Teachers have been able to continue maximizing instruction with far fewer
disruptions.
With our modified systems in place, we continue to monitor and find areas to improve
our service to all stakeholders. Our data in regards to tardy sweep indicated that we have
decreased in tardies; however, the greatest numbers of tardy students still lies in the morning
class and the class after lunch. Please remind your children about the importance of arriving to
every class on time.
Continuing with recent updates, on Monday, March 28 th , at approximately 2:00 p.m., our
staff member, Kristi Anderlohr quickly extinguished a fire in the boys’ restroom. We sincerely
appreciate Mrs. Anderlohr and the two students that brought the news to her attention shortly
after the fire began. District protocol is to call the fire department to extinguish and evaluate any
smoke or fire in the building. We thank our Round Rock Fire department for coming out and
quickly removing the smoke from this area of the building. The incident is currently under
investigation by the Round Rock Police Department, Round Rock Fire Marshall’s office and the
Stony Point High School administration.
In addition, our most pressing news occurred on Friday, March 25 th , Round Rock I.S.D.
campuses were challenged with the task of notifying the identified teachers about their state of
employment for the next school year. Stony Point, like many other schools throughout the state,
has to relieve teachers from duty for the next school year in order to meet budget shortfalls
coming from the state. In addition, Stony Point will be staffed with fewer teachers next school
year because we will be serving fewer students. Our junior class will be approximately two
hundred students less. As each class at Cedar Ridge High School grows, class sizes at Stony
Point High School will decrease. As a district, we are hopeful we will be able to bring back as
many teachers as possible if the state legislature agrees to release more financial assistance to
school districts in the state. This is a difficult time for our teachers and your sincere support of
them is greatly appreciated.
