Frequently Asked questions<br />

CAN ANyoNE REgISTER IN AN ExTENDED STUDIES CoURSE?<br />

yes. Extended Studies <strong>of</strong>fers courses for all ages. youth courses<br />

are open to artists aged 5 to 18 <strong>and</strong> adult courses are open<br />

to ages 16 <strong>and</strong> older. Whether you are new to art or returning<br />

after a long absence, the Extended Studies staff can help you<br />

find the right course to achieve your artistic goals. Read course<br />

descriptions carefully to ensure the course matches your<br />

interests <strong>and</strong> level <strong>of</strong> experience.<br />

WHERE CAN I BUy SUPPlIES?<br />

Most Extended Studies adult courses require that students<br />

purchase supplies. A list <strong>of</strong> required materials for your first<br />

class is outlined in course descriptions or available online. The<br />

NSCAD <strong>Art</strong> Supply Store is located at 1874 Hollis Street; open<br />

Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 6 pm <strong>and</strong> Friday <strong>and</strong><br />

Saturday from 9 am-5 pm. The store can be reached by phone at<br />

902.494.8176 or via email at store@nscad.ca<br />

Do ExTENDED STUDIES CoURSES CoUNT ToWARDS A<br />

UNIVERSITy DEgREE AT NSCAD?<br />

Currently, Extended Studies courses <strong>and</strong> certificate programs do<br />

not count toward the University’s credit programs.<br />

WHAT IF I NEED To TRANSFER oR WITHDRAW FRoM A<br />

CoURSE?<br />

Students may transfer from one course to another prior to the<br />

registration/withdraw deadline listed online. A transfer <strong>of</strong> fees,<br />

minus an administrative charge <strong>of</strong> $25, will be issued.<br />

Students may withdraw from a course by phone, fax, or mail. A<br />

refund <strong>of</strong> fees, minus an administrative charge <strong>of</strong> $25 per course,<br />

will be issued if notification <strong>of</strong> withdrawal is received before the<br />

registration/withdraw deadline for the specified course.<br />

No refund will be given for withdrawal after the registration/<br />

withdraw deadline. Exceptions are made on compassionate<br />

grounds. In such cases, a written request for refund,<br />

accompanied by appropriate documentation (e.g. medical), must<br />

be submitted to the School <strong>of</strong> Extended Studies.<br />
