and conductor <strong>of</strong> both the <strong>University</strong> Chorus and Concert Choir’s performances, including<br />

handel’s Messiah, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Honegger’s King David, Rutter’s<br />

Gloria, Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, Mahler’s Second and Eighth Symphonies, Elgar’s<br />

The Dream <strong>of</strong> Gerontius, Britten’s St. Nicholas (EWtN-tV), Rachmanin<strong>of</strong>f’s Bells (in Russian),<br />

Kodaly’s Missa Brevis, Durufle’s Requiem and many others (choral preparation).<br />

In addition, she has been chorus director and <strong>of</strong>f-stage conductor for the Summer<br />

Opera Theatre Company in D.C. She prepared the school’s A Cappella Choir for<br />

performances and recordings <strong>of</strong> Naughty Marietta and Rose Marie for the Smithsonian<br />

Institution and has directed several student groups on Department <strong>of</strong> Defense overseas<br />

tours <strong>of</strong> Europe, the Caribbean, Asia and the Pacific. As a director, she has staged A<br />

Little Night <strong>Music</strong>, The Barber <strong>of</strong> Seville, Madama Butterfly, Trouble in Tahiti, The Old Maid<br />

and The Thief, Gianni Schicchi, Suor Angelica and others. She is currently an Adjunct Pr<strong>of</strong>essor<br />

and Opera Director in <strong>George</strong> <strong>Mason</strong> <strong>University</strong>’s <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Music</strong>, and music<br />

director/conductor at Toby’s Dinner Theatre in Columbia and Baltimore.<br />

thoMAs reilly is an active vocal coach/pianist in the Washington area. Locally, his<br />

operatic career has included working as an Assistant Conductor and Chorus Master<br />

with the Washington Opera, Washington Concert Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, and Summer<br />

Opera Theater. He served as the principal coach/pianist for the opera program at<br />

the Brevard <strong>Music</strong> Center in Brevard, North Carolina for several summers. In Caracas,<br />

Venezuela, he served on the faculty <strong>of</strong> the Caracas Opera Center as a vocal coach and<br />

chorus master and was a member <strong>of</strong> the musical staffs <strong>of</strong> both the Opera Metropolitana<br />

and the Opera de Caracas.<br />

On the recital stage, he has partnered countless singers in venues such as the<br />

Kennedy Center, the Phillips Gallery <strong>of</strong> Art, the Toronto Center for the Arts, the Clinton<br />

Presidential Library, the National Gallery <strong>of</strong> Art, and the White House. He is a former<br />

faculty member <strong>of</strong> the Rome <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Music</strong> at the Catholic <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> America,<br />

and has served on the faculty and as the director <strong>of</strong> the vocal program at the Amalfi<br />

Coast <strong>Music</strong> Festival.<br />

Jihae Lim (accompanist), a student <strong>of</strong> Dr. Linda Apple Monson, is currently pursuing<br />

an artist certificate in Piano Performance and serving as an accompanist for the vocal<br />

department at <strong>George</strong> <strong>Mason</strong> <strong>University</strong>. She also graduated with her Bachelor’s and<br />

Master’s degrees in <strong>Music</strong> from <strong>George</strong> <strong>Mason</strong> <strong>University</strong> in 2007 and 2009. A native<br />

<strong>of</strong> Seoul, Korea, Lim is the grateful recipient <strong>of</strong> a Friends <strong>of</strong> <strong>Music</strong> Scholarship award.<br />

She was the winner <strong>of</strong> the 2007 GMU Concerto Competition and performed as a soloist<br />

with the GMU Symphony Orchestra, under the direction <strong>of</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Anthony Maiello.<br />

In December 2010, Lim performed Piano Concerto No. 13, K. 415 by Wolfgang Amadeus<br />

Mozart with the <strong>Mason</strong> Chamber Orchestra, under the direction <strong>of</strong> Dr. Dennis<br />

Layendecker. Lim was chosen to perform in piano master classes presented by Awadagin<br />

Pratt, Leon Bates, Jeffrey Siegel, and Ruskin Cooper. In addition, she has been<br />

chosen to perform as solo pianist in the GMU All-Steinway <strong>School</strong> Dedication Concert,<br />

<strong>Mason</strong>’s Jean Carrington Cook Piano Scholarship Recitals, and GMU Honors Recitals.<br />

She has also been selected to perform as solo pianist for the Fairfax Spotlight on the<br />

Arts Scholarship Concerts at Old Town Hall. In addition, she served as pianist for various<br />

theater productions, including Scrooge and Gypsy at the Little Theatre <strong>of</strong> Alexandria<br />

and <strong>Mason</strong>’s theater production <strong>of</strong> James Joyce’s The Dead. Lim serves as pianist for<br />

the Korean Blissful Presbyterian Church in Fairfax, Virginia, and she previously served<br />

as the accompanist for the youth choirs at Springfield United Methodist Church. Lim<br />

maintains a private piano studio and she also teaches for the Potomac Arts Academy.
