Dr. Lisa a. BiLLingham (Conductor, University Chorale), Associate Professor<br />

of Choral Music Education at <strong>George</strong> <strong>Mason</strong> University, conducts <strong>the</strong> University<br />

Chorale and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in choral music<br />

education. She is <strong>the</strong> co-advisor for <strong>the</strong> GMU student chapters of American<br />

Choral Directors Association and Music Educators National Conference. She<br />

is <strong>the</strong> President-Elect for <strong>the</strong> Virginia Chapter of <strong>the</strong> American Choral Directors<br />

Association and is a planning committee member for <strong>the</strong> Annual Voices<br />

United Conference hosted by Virginia, Maryland-D.C., and Delaware chapters<br />

of ACDA.<br />

Dr. Billingham’s research interests include <strong>the</strong> incorporation of Laban<br />

Movement Theory in conducting pedagogy and <strong>the</strong> choral rehearsal. She is a<br />

Certified Laban Movement Analyst from <strong>the</strong> Integrated Movement Studies<br />

<strong>Program</strong> at <strong>the</strong> University of Utah and incorporates that <strong>the</strong>ory with her private<br />

conducting students. Dr. Billingham is active as a clinician for conferences and<br />

choirs throughout <strong>the</strong> United States and Europe. She has presented for ACDA,<br />

VMEA, two Regional ACDA conferences, and at <strong>the</strong> International Society for<br />

Music Education (ISME) Conference in Bologna, Italy.<br />

Dr. Billingham holds a DMA in Choral Conducting from <strong>the</strong> University<br />

of Arizona, an MM in Choral Conducting from <strong>the</strong> University of Missouri-<br />

Kansas City Conservatory of Music, and a BME in Choral Music Education<br />

from Indiana University (Bloomington). Her conducting mentors include Bruce<br />

Chamberlain, Eph Ehly, James Jordan, Maurice Skones, and Volker Hempfling.<br />

CJ reDDen-Liotta is graduate assistant to Dr. Lisa A. Billingham and <strong>the</strong><br />

University Chorale (100+ voices).<br />

A graduate of <strong>the</strong> University of North Texas, Mr. Redden-Liotta has<br />

been an active professional musician in <strong>the</strong> Washington, DC area for <strong>the</strong> past 10<br />

years. As a conductor, he is <strong>the</strong> Artistic Director of <strong>the</strong> chamber chorus Second<br />

Wind, <strong>the</strong> Musical Director for <strong>the</strong> Woodbridge Community Chorus, and<br />

served as Music Director and Conductor for <strong>the</strong> Repertory Opera Theatre of<br />

Washington.<br />

Mr. Redden-Liotta has performed with many ensembles, including<br />

<strong>the</strong> critically acclaimed University of North Texas Jazz Singers, <strong>the</strong> Woodley<br />

Ensemble, National Symphony Orchestra, and is a member of <strong>the</strong> Professional<br />

Core of <strong>the</strong> Washington Master Chorale. As soloist he has performed in several<br />

capacities, including <strong>the</strong> world premiere and recording of <strong>the</strong> Requiem by Paul<br />

Leavitt, and <strong>the</strong> East Coast premiere of Eternal Light: A Requiem by British<br />

composer Howard Goodall. Additonally, he maintains both a private voice<br />

studio and is a teaching artist at <strong>the</strong> Capitol Hill Arts Workshop.<br />

Mr. Redden-Liotta is pursuing his Masters of Music degree in Choral<br />

Conducting at <strong>George</strong> <strong>Mason</strong> University and is an active member of <strong>the</strong> American<br />

Choral Directors Association.<br />

Jane moore Kaye is vocal coach and accompanist for <strong>the</strong> University Chorale<br />

(100+ voices).<br />

Ms. Kaye also performs in <strong>the</strong> greater D.C. area as an active recitalist<br />

and accompanist. She shares her love of choral music as accompanist for <strong>the</strong><br />

ACDA Voices United Conference (held annually on <strong>the</strong> campus of <strong>George</strong> <strong>Mason</strong><br />

University) where she has accompanied for Weston Noble, Eleanor Daley,<br />

Dale Warland, Anton Armstrong, John Rutter, David Brunner and Joe Miller.<br />

She is also active in area district and state choral festivals.<br />

Ms. Kaye is <strong>the</strong> organist and pianist for Providence Presbyterian<br />

Church in Fairfax, VA where she helped oversee <strong>the</strong> installation of a Lively-<br />

Fulcher tracker pipe organ. At <strong>George</strong> <strong>Mason</strong> University, she is <strong>the</strong> accompanist<br />

for <strong>the</strong> Concert Choir and <strong>the</strong> Master Singers of <strong>the</strong> Fairfax Children’s Chorus.<br />

Highlights of her career have included performances at <strong>the</strong> White House, <strong>the</strong><br />

National Ca<strong>the</strong>dral, <strong>the</strong> Kennedy Center and high-level Pentagon events to<br />

include <strong>the</strong> National Prayer Breakfast and <strong>the</strong> prayer service following 9/11. Ms.<br />

Kaye earned a BM in Piano Performance at Emporia State University, Emporia,<br />

Kansas and an MM in Piano Performance at Sam Houston University in<br />

Huntsville, Texas.<br />

Ms. Kaye is active in <strong>the</strong> community as well. She is <strong>the</strong> Artist Liaison<br />

for <strong>the</strong> chamber music series “Music & Arts at Providence. Jane’s teachers, past<br />

and present have included Bradford Gowen, Gary Graffman, John Paul, Theodore<br />

Guerrant, and William Neil.<br />

In <strong>the</strong> GMU School of Music JuLie neish accompanies many of <strong>the</strong> choral<br />

ensembles including: <strong>the</strong> University Singers under <strong>the</strong> direction of Stan Engebretson,<br />

<strong>the</strong> University Chorale under <strong>the</strong> direction of Lisa Billingham, and has<br />

accompanied and sung with <strong>the</strong> Women’s Chorale under <strong>the</strong> direction of Mary<br />

Ann East. She directs two ensembles with Dr. Engebretson: Soundcheque (vocal<br />

jazz) and Timesquare Singers (musical <strong>the</strong>atre.) She has also enjoyed working<br />

with <strong>the</strong> GMU Opera and conducting selections for <strong>the</strong> University Chorale and<br />

<strong>the</strong> Vocal Chamber Ensemble.<br />

Julie is an active musician in <strong>the</strong> greater DC area. As a choir accompanist<br />

she accompanies <strong>the</strong> choral department of H-B Woodlawn High School in<br />

Arlington, <strong>the</strong> JEB Stuart High School Choral Department in Falls Church, <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>George</strong>town Chorale under <strong>the</strong> direction of Dr. Elaine Rendler, and <strong>the</strong> Ac-<br />

cotink Unitarian Universalist Church in Burke under <strong>the</strong> direction of Dr. Lisa<br />

Billingham.<br />

With her passion for musical direction in <strong>the</strong> world of musical <strong>the</strong>atre,<br />

Julie has been a part of numerous musicals in <strong>the</strong> NOVA area. She also enjoys<br />

working with many of <strong>the</strong> voice faculty and vocal majors at GMU and has accompanied<br />

numerous recitals and NATS competitors in addition to her work as<br />

a vocal coach. She was invited to perform on piano and celeste with <strong>the</strong> Capital<br />

City Symphony under <strong>the</strong> direction of Vicki Gau in 2009.<br />

Julie Neish received her MM, with emphases in music education and<br />

choral conducting, from <strong>George</strong> <strong>Mason</strong> University in January 2010. She received<br />

her BS in Music, emphasis in piano performance, from Brigham Young University-Idaho<br />

in December 2006.<br />

From Westfield, New Jersey, CaroLine yost is a graduating senior pursuing her<br />

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance, as well as a Minor in Arts Administration. She<br />

has choreographed for <strong>the</strong> <strong>George</strong> <strong>Mason</strong> University Dance Company on four<br />

different occasions and is happy to be making her “choralography” debut with<br />

<strong>the</strong> University Chorale. Caroline would like to offer her sincerest thanks to <strong>the</strong><br />

Chorale for <strong>the</strong>ir hard work throughout this process.<br />
