SystemNet v10.0 beta
We are pleased to announce futher developments in our SystemNet integration
programme with the beta release of SystemNet v10.0 - providing even further
integration and control possibilities - all delivered through the TouchScreen. v10.0
provides full two-way RS-232 control of Dynalite lighting and heating and plus
one-way RS-232 control of Clipsal lighting. Obviously this is in addition to the
existing supported lighting systems - Lutron Homeworks, Lutron Grafik-eye and
KNX heating and lighting. Allowing greater choice and flexibility when specifying
lighting and heating control systems based on your clients' requirements.
Needless to say, the improved integration options work seamlessly with the
TouchScreen and we've retained the familiar page layouts and graphics, so no
matter what system you choose to work with you can be assured of a tried and
tested graphical user interface.
Download the new software at
http://www.armourhe.co.uk/downloads/-software/systemnet_files as well as
support files for all our supported systems, including the newly added Dynalite and
Clipsal.
Important
As usual please consider this a beta release and Armour Home cannot be held
responsible for project delays and complications that result should this software be
used in a consumer's premises. Please thoroughly check for issues prior to
installation.
Systemline S6 and MusicServer
The MusicServer boasts a feature
allowing consumers access to music
stored on other hard drives on the
same network as the server. This is
commonly used where two S6
controllers are used in the same project
with more than eight zones, allowing
the consumer the same access music
content regardless of which S6 zone
they are in.
Please use the links below to download PDFs of the application notes and visit the FAQ web page.
1 – Q12210/AN: Adding a location. This covers the addition of a remote hard drive to the MusicServer on the
same network. It deals with both Windows and Mac operating systems.
http://www.armourhe.co.uk/downloads/systemline/technical/Q12210-AN-003-Adding-a-Location.pdf
2 – Q12225/AN: From PC to Server. This covers the copying of audio content from a networked PC to the hard
drive of the MusicServer for permanent location on the internal hard drive.
3 – Q12475/AN: FAQs. The Technical Support team are often asked common questions regarding various facets
of the Systemline product. We have compiled an FAQ section on the website which you can refer to to see if your
question can be easily answered - plus, as it's online you can quickly access this at anytime.
These are also downloadable from the Armour Home website at the above URLs along with more application notes
relating to networking benefits of the server.
Systemline Modular – New components
Systemline ALM3 Speakers
The new Systemline ALM3 speaker has
recently been introduced to replace the ALM2.
The new speaker model has the following
improvements:
• Part L compliance
• Acoustic improvement with new drive unit
designs and circuitry
• Switchable IR on/off to avoid the purchase of
two model numbers
• Direct upgrades via QRC file including
bass/treble adjustment
Installation methods remain the same, as do the
punch down terminations.
To enable simple and efficient configuration of the SLM speaker we recommend all
installers carry an LRN7 remote that's loaded with an installer .qrc file. This file can
be deleted from the remote using the ARC7 editor. The SLM speakers can still be
configured using the conventional method which involves removing R36 in
expansion speakers and the use of address 2 in sub-zones. These procedures
can be used in single source installs where the LRN7 is not part of the Single
Source Starter Pack.
PIM-4
The new external power input module allows up
to four pairs of speakers to be powered by one
PSM130, reducing the need for additional
power supplies. The power input connection is
direct from the transformer, with RJ45 connect
to the speakers.
Specifications:
• 1 x Power input (RJ45 socket)
• 4 x Power output (RJ45 socket)
• Dimensions (WxDxH): 102 x 48 x 81.5mm
• Requires PSM130 power supply active to
drive
Product Code: M-PIM4
CIM/2
This unit is an external version of the CIM wallplate allows the external connection
of a stereo source device to a redundant RJ45 socket that may currently be
positioned for networking or telephony use. Connection of the source and IR
control window emitter is as the current CIM with an RJ45 socket on the reverse.
Importantly the new CIM/2 also has a volume limitation (>-6db) toggle. This allows
the attenuation an overly loud source device to match the other source devices in
the system. Good problem solver!
Specifications:
• Stereo input (2 x phono)
• 2 x IR emitter outputs (3.5mm jack)
• 1 x Balanced line audio output (RJ45)
• Dimensions (WxDxH): 102 x 48 x 87mm
Nevo Studio Pro 2.0 Release Candidate
This latest release will include two-way Serial communication for select devices,
including Sonance iPort, Lutron Homeworks and others using pre-configured
interfaces.
NSP2.0 also contains improvements on the current software version to assist
installers to complete their job more efficiently such as more backgrounds and
sample configurations.
Please remember this is a candidate release and must be treated as such.
Therefore we would strongly advise that it should be used with care. UEI have
assured us that this is representative of the final release unless something
negative in found in field tests, will not be held accountable if problems should
arise from its use. We would also advise that if installing NSP 2.0 you do so in
parallel with NSP 1.1 and this can be achieved by altering the destination of the
program so something like C:\Program Files\NSP2.0 - this will allow you to run
both version s concurrently.
If you do intend to use NSP2.0 in an active environment please note that both
Nevo remotes and connects will require updates from within the software and this
is non reversible.
The software itself will be available to registered users of mynevo.com, but the size
of the file precludes it from being sent via email so, please register as it will not be
made available from Armour Technical Support.
The software was made available on Monday 8th December from
www.mynevo.com with the official release due in February 2009 during the
Integrated Systems Europe expo.
NAD
NAD has released further supporting documentation referring to RS-232 control of the its Txx5
AV receiver range. This can be downloaded from http://nadelectronics.com/software or
alternatively the Armour Home site in the software downloads section. These documents
include RS-232 protocols descriptions for the NAD T785/T775/T765/T755/T175, and can be
iPod Charging update
about:blank
of 5 24/03/2009 10:02

In the previous technical bulletin we highlighted that the latest generation of iPods
had changed the charging methods from Firewire to USB - causing some issues
with all docks on the market. We also promised an update so here it is...
Both the Roth ALFiE and MC-4 products do not currently conform to the new iPhone
3G specification - they will play but won't charge. The second generation ALFiE and
MC-4 products will conform to this standard and are expected during 2009. Roth is
pleased to inform us the RothDock, due in stock early 2009, will be fully iPhone 3G
compliant and therefore charge and play all iPods.
iPort is releasing an update board for their IW (In-Wall) range which we are
expecting delivery of in early 2009. This will be an optional and chargeable upgrade.
The iPort FS (Free-Standing) range is being upgraded in early 2009. T his product
range will then also conform to iPhone 3G charging specification.
Tivoli Audio products do not currently conform to the iPhone 3G specification - they
will play but won't charge. Tivoli Audio will be making changes to its product and we
hope to see this stock in late 2009.
More news as we get it…
