There’s no doubt; the
stars are out. Team
Orion students are
bursting with brightness-
reading and
(Angela Johnson), studying about native Texans,
completing independent research projects in science
class, and creating and analyzing tables and
graphs in math class. Team Orion is definitely
celebrating the stars with academics, rigor, and
relevance

Mr. Brown did a superb job connecting subject
matter to real life experiences. The 7 th grade
novel referred to a reggae singer by the name of
Bob Marley. He provided his students with a
sample of Marley’s music accompanied by the
lyrics. This experience broadened their
knowledge of other genres or styles of music.
Mr. Jackson is at the door! Mr. Jackson has
called and visited the homes of many students
because of his commitment to ensure that all
students will receive a qualitative and quantitative
education.
Both teachers are true examples of highly
qualified teachers! Go team Pegasus!

Can You Guess Who I Am?
I’ve been teaching here for ten years. Some of my hobbies
are watching sports and going to sport events. The
one thing that I would do besides
teaching would be a sports broadcaster. My favorite thing
to do is travel with my family. I have eight brothers and
sisters. My very first job was at a Recreation Center. My
most favorite family memory is when I took my family to
Disney World. My favorite food growing up was red
beans and rice. I love the color green. I went to college at
West Texas State, and my most favorite memory was
playing college basketball there.

Prizes will be given out such as CD
players, audio books, books, etc.
Stop by the library for more information.
Writers must be Dunbar Middle
School students.
Short stories can be no longer than
4,000 words.
Stories must be legible or typed
and double spaced.
Put the title and page number of
your story on the top of each page.
The stories must be science fiction,
fantasy or tall tale and myths
theme. Posters and bookmarks
must be an original design. Your
design should be related in some
way to books and our theme “Read
Beyond Reality.”
Write you name, you age, team
name , and the title (if applicable)
of your story, poem, bookmark or
poster on a separate piece of paper
and turn it in with your work.
Do not put you name on it so it
will be judged equally with other
entries.
Turn in you work at the library.
Deadline is October 21,2009
