would like to remind
you that you can order
Mabel’s Labels online.
This will help identify
your children’s clothing,
lunch boxes and
school materials. It is
a great way to keep
track of their belongings,
and have them
returned when lost.

As we complete this academic year I would like
to wish to everyone, on behalf of the staff, a
safe and wonderful summer. We hope you take
the chance to enjoy your
time together as a family
and enjoy the summer
holidays. We look
forward to seeing you
back on August 29 th .
Field Day on June 5 th was loads of fun for the
students. We had beautiful weather with a
good breeze. The Airbounces were back and
students were treated to a refreshing treat.
There were many fun activities for students
throughout the park. Thank
you to Mrs. Kerklaan and
Ms. Flammia who organized
this activity with the help of
the staff and all the parent

The Graduation Ceremony
was a wonderful evening for
the students and their
families. We wish all the
Grads success as they begin
their High School careers.
The dance which followed
was enjoyed by all. The pool party at
Valleycrest is on June 22 nd . I would like to
express our thanks to the Graduation
Committee for organizing these events,
the year book, as well as many others
activities. The Grads have certainly been
very fortunate and will cherish this for
many years to come.

Congratulations to
Ms. Carroll who won,
for the third
consecutive year, the
Big Dreamer’s Award,
an international
competition, for St.
Anthony School. The
prize is another $5,000
donation towards our
Free the Children cause
in Sierra Leone. The
donation comes from
Penguin Books. Ms.
Carroll spent many
hours detailing all the
efforts that have been
going on here by our
students for our
schools in Makeni.
Thank you Ms. Carroll.
Congratulations to
Samantha, Emily, Tamara,
and Billie, who performed at
the Family picnic. These
talented students performed a
number of songs to the
delight of our spectators as a
fundraiser for Free the
Children. The students were
able to raise $100! Well done.

Volume 2 Issue 2 June/ Final 2012
This year marks the completion of our Adopt a Village campaign in Makeni, Sierra Leone. We
raised enough funds to bring an alternative income (poultry farm) to the women of the village as
well as providing health care. These last two pillars were completed in one year! On Thursday,
June 14 th the Free the Children Youth Committee, all 70 student members, were treated to a hot
dog lunch and began brainstorming for next year. Thank you Mrs. Jollimore, Mrs. Andrade and
Mrs. Schamerhorn for preparing the hot dog lunch. On June 18 th we had our Free the Children
assembly celebrating the completion of our Adopt a Village campaign. Representatives from Free
the Children were present with us. We had a PowerPoint presentation celebrating our success
over the past three years. Mr. Mercuri, form Mozza Restaurant, was thanked and presented with
a plaque and special certificate for his support of our Pasta Dinner. A representative from Zedbed
and Matelas Bonheur was acknowledged for their support of our Silent Auction and were present
to receive a special certificate from Free The Children. Ms. Carroll was presented with a special
gift on behalf of the students for her retirement and her tireless work for Free the Children at
St. Anthony School. Her gift, created by Mrs.
Pittarelli, is a shadow box celebrating the work of
St. Anthony students for their support of Makeni,
Sierra Leone. The students and the
community should be proud of this outstanding
accomplishment.
Congratulations to Quinn Holden
who helped raise $105 for our Free
the Children campaign with his
balloon sale at the Family Picnic. With
the help of his family Quinn made
balloon sword and hats for the
students. Thank you Quinn for
taking on this initiative in your
graduating year.

Another year comes to an end.
We've learned a lot, and grown a lot
and made a lot of friends.
We'll say goodbye,
now summer's here,
it's time for us to part.
But we'll remember
all our friends
and keep them in our hearts.
