Recruitment of facilitators for “<strong>Smoke</strong>‐<strong>free</strong> <strong>Youth</strong> <strong>Ambassador</strong><br />
<strong>Leadership</strong> <strong>Training</strong> <strong>Camp</strong>”<br />
Objectives of the <strong>Camp</strong>:<br />
To train up a group of smoke‐<strong>free</strong> youth ambassadors (from school: Form 2‐4;<br />
from <strong>Youth</strong> Centres/Uniform Groups: Aged 14‐18) to take up the role to spread and<br />
promote smoke‐<strong>free</strong> messages in their schools and community through organizing<br />
smoke‐<strong>free</strong> programmes.<br />
*the ambassadors are expected to organize smoke‐<strong>free</strong> programmes from September<br />
to December 2013 as a group‐based competition<br />
Date (4 camps, 2 Days 1 Night)<br />
9am, 23 July 2013 – 6pm, 24 July 2013<br />
9am, 31 July 2013 – 6pm, 1 August 2013<br />
9am, 8 August 2013 – 6pm, 9 August 2013<br />
9am, 14 August 2013 – 6pm, 15 August 2013<br />
Venue<br />
HKFYG Sai Kung Outdoor <strong>Training</strong> <strong>Camp</strong><br />
Number of facilitators needed for each camp<br />
20 per camp<br />
** It is on a voluntary basis. Travel allowance will be given to facilitators with meals<br />
and accommodation provided. Certificate will be awarded upon completion of the<br />
camp.<br />
***There will be 150‐160 youth ambassadors for each camp<br />
Roles of facilitators<br />
To enhance <strong>Youth</strong> <strong>Ambassador</strong>s’ knowledge on the hazards of tobacco,<br />
secondhand and thirdhand smoking, introduce <strong>Youth</strong> Quitline and share findings (eg<br />
different characteristics between male/ female smokers, with depression or not; case<br />
sharing to help youth smokers quit etc). <strong>Training</strong> will be provided<br />
To assist in enhancing <strong>Youth</strong> <strong>Ambassador</strong>s’ understanding on smoking issues (e.g.<br />
global & local smoking trend, global & local Hong Kong policies on tobacco control,<br />
cessation methods/services, works of WHO, etc)<br />
To facilitate group discussion on tobacco issues and group activities<br />
To assist <strong>Youth</strong> <strong>Ambassador</strong>s in understanding their roles on promoting tobacco<br />
control
To lead students to manage projects on promoting tobacco control in schools and<br />
community<br />
Requirements<br />
2nd or 3rd year university students (currently studying in Public Health is<br />
preferable)<br />
Independent self‐disciplined<br />
Good problem solving skill with good communications skill and leadership skill<br />
Proactive, pleasant, outgoing<br />
Experience in organizing training camp is preferable<br />
