Facilitators for Smoke-free Youth Ambassador Training camps
The Hong Kong Smoking and Health Council would like to invite HKU students to be
facilitators (20 facilitators per camp) of their Smoke-free Youth Ambassador
Training camps in Jul and Aug. It is on a voluntary basis and travel allowance will be
provided. It will be a great experience for both facilitators and youth ambassadors.
Below please find details for your reference.
Objectives of the Camp:
To train up a group of smoke-free youth ambassadors (from school: Form 3-4;
from Youth Centres/Uniform Groups: Aged 14-18) to take up the role to spread
and promote smoke-free messages in their school and community through
organizing smoke-free programmes.
*the ambassadors are expected to organize smoke-free programme from Sep to Dec
2012 as a group-based competition
Date (4 camps, 2 Days 1 Night)
9am, 10 July – 9pm, 11 July
9am, 19 August – 9pm, 20 August
9am, 21 August – 9pm, 22 August
9am, 29 August – 9pm, 30 August
Venue
HKFYG Sai Kung Outdoor Training Camp
Number of Facilitators needed for each camp
20 per camp
**Travel allowance will be given to facilitator with meals and accommodation
provided
***There will be 150-160 youth ambassadors for each camp
Roles of Facilitators
To enhance Youth Ambassadors’ knowledge on the hazard of tobacco,
secondhand and thirdhand smoking, introduce Youth Quitline and share findings
(eg different characteristics between male/ female smokers, with depression or
not; case sharing to help youth smokers quit etc)< training will be provided

To assist enhancing Youth Ambassadors’ understanding on smoking issue (e.g.
global & local smoking trend, global & local Hong Kong policy, cessation
method/service, work of WHO, etc)
To facilitate group discussion on tobacco issue and group activities
To assist Youth Ambassadors to understand their roles on promoting tobacco
control
To lead students to manage project on promoting tobacco control in school and
