<strong>Facilitators</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Smoke</strong>-<strong>free</strong> <strong>Youth</strong> <strong>Ambassador</strong> <strong>Training</strong> camps<br />

The Hong Kong Smoking and Health Council would like to invite HKU students to be<br />

facilitators (20 facilitators per camp) of their <strong>Smoke</strong>-<strong>free</strong> <strong>Youth</strong> <strong>Ambassador</strong><br />

<strong>Training</strong> camps in Jul and Aug. It is on a voluntary basis and travel allowance will be<br />

provided. It will be a great experience <strong>for</strong> both facilitators and youth ambassadors.<br />

Below please find details <strong>for</strong> your reference.<br />

Objectives of the Camp:<br />

To train up a group of smoke-<strong>free</strong> youth ambassadors (from school: Form 3-4;<br />

from <strong>Youth</strong> Centres/Uni<strong>for</strong>m Groups: Aged 14-18) to take up the role to spread<br />

and promote smoke-<strong>free</strong> messages in their school and community through<br />

organizing smoke-<strong>free</strong> programmes.<br />

*the ambassadors are expected to organize smoke-<strong>free</strong> programme from Sep to Dec<br />

2012 as a group-based competition<br />

Date (4 camps, 2 Days 1 Night)<br />

9am, 10 July – 9pm, 11 July<br />

9am, 19 August – 9pm, 20 August<br />

9am, 21 August – 9pm, 22 August<br />

9am, 29 August – 9pm, 30 August<br />

Venue<br />

HKFYG Sai Kung Outdoor <strong>Training</strong> Camp<br />

Number of <strong>Facilitators</strong> needed <strong>for</strong> each camp<br />

20 per camp<br />

**Travel allowance will be given to facilitator with meals and accommodation<br />

provided<br />

***There will be 150-160 youth ambassadors <strong>for</strong> each camp<br />

Roles of <strong>Facilitators</strong><br />

To enhance <strong>Youth</strong> <strong>Ambassador</strong>s’ knowledge on the hazard of tobacco,<br />

secondhand and thirdhand smoking, introduce <strong>Youth</strong> Quitline and share findings<br />

(eg different characteristics between male/ female smokers, with depression or<br />

not; case sharing to help youth smokers quit etc)< training will be provided


To assist enhancing <strong>Youth</strong> <strong>Ambassador</strong>s’ understanding on smoking issue (e.g.<br />

global & local smoking trend, global & local Hong Kong policy, cessation<br />

method/service, work of WHO, etc)<br />

To facilitate group discussion on tobacco issue and group activities<br />

To assist <strong>Youth</strong> <strong>Ambassador</strong>s to understand their roles on promoting tobacco<br />

control<br />

To lead students to manage project on promoting tobacco control in school and<br />
