Middlesex University – Directions from Airport to Halls of Residence and Hendon Campus
PLATT HALLS & WRITTLE HOUSE, NW9 5LJ
From Heathrow Airport
After landing allow two hours to reach Platt Hall. Using the Piccadilly (dark blue) line, take the
underground eastbound to Leicester Square. Change lines, taking the Edgware branch of the
Northern (black) line northbound to Colindale. If you pay by cash, this will cost £5.50 at any time. If
you purchase an Oyster card, it will cost £5.00 Monday to Friday from 0630 to 0930 and from 1600
to 1900 or £3.00 any other time. From there, it is a short (three minute) walk to Platt Hall. After
leaving the underground station, turn left and cross to the other side of the road at the zebra
crossing. Follow the road (which is called Colindale Avenue) to the roundabout and turn right into
Aerodrome Road. Platt Hall is directly facing you, on the left hand side of Aerodrome Road.
From Gatwick Airport
After landing, allow about three hours to reach Platt Hall. Take the train (Gatwick Express) to Victoria
station. A standard single ticket will cost £17.70. Change to the Underground and using the Victoria
(light blue) line, travel northbound to Warren Street station. Change lines here taking the Edgware
branch of the Northern (black) line northbound to Colindale station. A ticket from Victoria to
Colindale will cost £5.50 if you pay by cash. If you purchase an Oyster card, it will cost £3.80 Monday
to Friday from 0630 to 0930 and from 1600 to 1900 or £2.70 any other time. From Colindale tube
station follow the directions given above.
From Luton Airport
After landing allow two and a half hours to reach Platt Hall. A free bus service operates every 10
minutes to and from Luton Airport Parkway station. Thameslink operates a fast, frequent service
direct between Luton Airport Parkway station and King’s Cross station. The journey takes around 35
minutes. A standard single ticket will cost £13.50. Change to the Underground and take the Edgware
branch of the Northern (black) line northbound to Colindale. A ticket from King’s Cross Station to
Colindale will cost £5.50 if you pay by cash. If you purchase an Oyster card, it will cost £3.80 Monday
to Friday from 0630 to 0930 and from 1600 to 1900 or £2.70 any other time. From Colindale tube
station follow the directions given above under the title ‘From Heathrow airport’.
From Stansted Airport
After landing allow three hours to reach Platt Hall. Stansted Express operates trains every 15
minutes from Stansted Airport station to Liverpool Street station and the journey takes just over 45
minutes. The ticket will cost £23.40. Once at Liverpool Street station, change to the Underground
and take the Circle (yellow), Hammersmith & City (pink) or Metropolitan (burgundy) line westbound
to Moorgate. At Moorgate, take the Edgware branch of the Northern (black) line northbound to

Colindale. A ticket from Liverpool Street station to Colindale will cost £5.50 if you pay by cash. If you
purchase an Oyster card, it will cost £3.80 Monday to Friday from 0630 to 0930 and from 1600 to
1900 or £2.70 any other time. From Colindale tube station follow the directions given above under
the title ‘From Heathrow airport’.
HENDON CAMPUS AND USHER HALLS, NW4 4BT / NW4 4HE
From Heathrow Airport
After landing allow about two hours to reach Usher Hall / Hendon Campus. Using the Piccadilly (dark
blue) line, take the Underground eastbound to Leicester Square. Change lines, taking the Edgware
branch of the Northern (black) line northbound to Hendon Central station. A ticket from Heathrow
to Hendon Central station will cost £5.50 if you pay by cash. If you purchase an Oyster card, it will
cost £5.00 Monday to Friday from 0630 to 0930 and from 1600 to 1900 or £3.00 any other time.
From Hendon Central station you can walk to the University (as you exit the station turn right and
follow the footpath up to the first set of traffic lights and turn right into the Burroughs) or take a bus
(number 143 or 326, bus stop F located on the opposite side of the main road, cross using subway
provided) to Middlesex University. This will cost £2.40 if you pay by cash or £1.40 will be charged to
your Oyster card. Alternatively, you can take a minicab from the station which should cost
approximately £5.00. on The Burroughs.
From Gatwick Airport

IVY HALLS, NW2 2DQ
From Heathrow Airport
Allow approximately two hours to reach Ivy Halls. Using the Piccadilly (dark blue) line, take the
Underground eastbound to Kings Cross / St Pancras station. Change to the over ground train
network at St Pancras station and take the train (First Capital Connect) to Cricklewood rail station. A
single ticket for the journey between Heathrow and Cricklewood will cost £7.20 during peak times or
£4.90 during off-peak times. As you exit the station on to Cricklewood Lane, turn left and from there,
take a short (2 minute) walk along Cricklewood Lane. Ivy Halls are located on the opposite side of the
road next to Virgin Active.
From Gatwick Airport
After landing allow approximately two and a half hours to reach the Ivy Halls. Take the train (Gatwick
Express) to Victoria station. The ticket will cost £17.70. Change to the Underground and using the
Victoria (light blue) line, travel northbound to Kings Cross / St Pancras station. Change to the
overground train network at St Pancras station and take the train (First Capital Connect) to
Cricklewood rail station. A ticket from Victoria to Cricklewood rail station, if you purchase an Oyster

time. As you exit the station on to Cricklewood Lane, turn left and from there, take a short (2 minute)
walk along Cricklewood Lane. Ivy Halls are located on the opposite side of the road next to Virgin
Active.
From Luton Airport
After landing allow approximately two and a half hours to reach Ivy Halls. A free bus service operates
every 10 minutes to Luton Airport Parkway Station. First Capital Connect operates a fast train service
direct between Luton Airport Parkway and Cricklewood rail station approximately every half an hour.
The journey takes around 35 minutes. The ticket will cost £11.00. As you exit the station on to
Cricklewood Lane, turn left and from there, take a short (2 minute) walk along Cricklewood Lane. Ivy
Halls are located on the opposite side of the road next to Virgin Active.
From Stansted Airport
After landing allow three hours to reach Ivy Halls. Standsted Express operates trains every 15
minutes from Stansted Airport to Liverpool Street Station and the journey takes just over 45 minutes.
The ticket will cost £23.40. At Liverpool Street station, change to the underground and take the

Farringdon. At Farringdon, change to the over ground train network and take a train (First Capital

minute) walk along Cricklewood Lane. Ivy Halls are located on the opposite side of the road next to
Virgin Active.
