8000IREX StarServe IR Expander Installation Instructions
1.0 Description
The Clipsal 8000IREX is used to expand the IR system of the Clipsal
8073/8VHPIR Video Distribution Unit (VDU). It provides up to 64 outputs with IR
control (8 VDUs using the outputs from the master VDU). The 8000IREX passes IR
signals from the expansion VDUs to the master VDU. All broadband and modulated
signals brought to the main panel are available at the expansion VDU outputs with
minimal signal loss.
2.0 Important Notes
• Each expansion VDU must be powered by its own separate power supply.
• Modulators connected to the expansion VDUs will only be viewable on outputs
from that expansion VDU.
• Bidirectional (12V) IR signals are not bidirectional to other expansion VDUs.
Bidirectional IR signals will only function within the original expansion VDU and
master VDU outputs
3.0 Installation
To install the IR Expander:
1) Connect the 8000IREX between an output of the master VDU and an
input of the expansion VDU. Ensure to connect the expansion VDU to the
system side of the 8000IREX.
2) Connect the IR cable to the 8000IREX and plug the input jack into to the IR
socket on the Expansion Hub.
3) Plug the 12V d.c. supply into the 8000IREX and switch on.
