(Room B401/ 402 – Finance Track)
State policy is a critical and constant driver for wind demand, and provides cues and incentives for transmission
development to windy regions throughout the U.S. Policy makers play key roles in setting a policy regime to allow
for wind development, so it’s important that members and advocates of the industry, as well as organizations that
support the industry and its workforce, work effectively within these legislative and regulatory realms. This panel will
highlight and explore state level policy issues including property tax treatment of wind turbines, power purchase
agreement incentives or directives, siting rules and geographic preference of generation and jobs, as well as other
key topics. Speakers will also discuss what policy makers need from us to serve the industry better, and to address
key issues and political challenges that effect our growing industry.
Siting Impact Assessments: Addressing Pre- and Post-Construction Due Diligence (4B)
(Room B407 – Siting Track)
The industry continues to be challenged by an increasing frequency and intensity of concerns about wind energy
impacts. Siting has become both an art and science: predicting the impacts a project may pose to the natural and
human environment; and managing the expectations of a project’s accomplishments post-construction
predictions. This panel of experts will present the latest understanding of these issues, the results of related testing,
how policy makers and industry are attempting to address them, and attempt to separate fact from fiction on the
most pressing of issues currently facing the industry.
